HTC TyTN / Imate JasJam

Hi all,

I got my HTC TYTN this morning ... quick question: Seeing that it is using a Li-Ion Polymer battery, is it still necessary to charge it for 16 odd hourse before first use?

Thanks

Think it is still good practice.

Sleep on it ........ you can play with it in the morning.

Welcome to the dark side !

I started using mine immediately and I don't have any issues with battery life. On average I charge every 2nd evening and it takes a couple of charge cycles to stabilise the battery capacity anyway. In my opinion it's more important to let the battery drain properly before re-charging than the initial charge period.

Left it till this morning, so obviously I have a couple of questions:

The ROM updates on the leaf site: Is it possible to download directly to the TyTN, and then run the cab, or does it have to be via ActiveSync?

Then, my ROM version is 1.35.255.2 ... Is there anywhere to see the improvements/changes I should get when going to 2.11.255?

Thanks

Get Black 2.5 ;)

Best ROM i've used so far. Installed all the little patches and its running amazingly smooth so far.

Yeah, ver 2.11.255 is the AKU3 update, so it incorporates a lot of new features and has better stability than the original update. The update also includes a new radio stack update that will increase your battery life and improve reception.

See this webpage to see the difference between AKU 2.3 (release ROM) and AKU3

Or you can go the way we okes on the forum do, and install the newest Windows Mobile 6 Cooked ROMS. This offers even more features and also improves reaction time/speed on the phone.

Negative is, I'm not sure what that will do to your warranty. None of us has had any warranty problems that could'nt be solved by just flashing the original ROM back to the phone before taking it in for a hardware fix.

So, definately flash the 2.11.255 at the least, or WM6 recommended. what do you say? :D

If you want to go the WM6 route, let us know and we'll be glad to guide you through it. ;)

Hi peeps.
I have been busy at work. Almost never have a chance to browse around on the forums anymore.. But i have a question.

Does anyone know of a good Weather app for the TYTN/Hermes that includes local towns? Most of the international apps only support CT/PTA/JHB/PE. I want places like George, and Beaufort and Kimberly. Does anyone know of any Weather Today-plugin that has more local towns on it?!?!

Im using Marsware Weatherpanel.

What works best is just to stick you're head out the window. ;-)

Im just looking for a nice weather app that support most of SA's towns. Been installing Marsware weather panel to most of my users at my work that travel and have TyTn's or K-Jam's. They really like this app.

You can also have a look at Fizz Traveler.

Have downloaded it, but not tried it as yet.

i havent used Fizz myself so i am not quite sure if it is end user or the app itself but i have had a good couple of users experience quite a bit of grief with their devices ...

Ok, my 2nd day on Black 2.5 and I seem to have an issue with radio 1.41.00.10.
I often have to set my band to Auto in order to make a call. I used to have it on GSM only in order to save battery life.
Anyone else have similar issues with this radio version?

official version of WM 6.0 for the TyTN is on route .. what network are you using ??? does the device dial and end the call immediately ??

@The Guy - thx for getting back so quick!
I'm on Vodacom and when you dial a number it says "dialing" and then nothing.
This behaviour is intermittent and switching the band to "Auto" seems to sort it out. It seems more related to the radio than Black 2.5 I think - when do you expect the Official WM6 to be available from Leaf? They initially said Apr 07 if I recall.

you would be able to get the ROM from HTC website ... Anyways i have had this happen to me on a number of occasions with different devices ... i use Vodacom as well ... i am not quite sure what exactly it is ... network congestion that disrupts your link leaving your device in limbo until you force it to ( refresh your connection ) or is the issue with the Radio stack on the device ...

I think it's the radio because I did not have this issue with Black 2.0 and the previous radio version (1.38 I think). But then again it could also be an OS issue I guess.

I dont have this issue.. Mine is working fine... Im also running Black2.5 and 1.41.00.10.. No problems.. haven softrest my phone in almost a week now.. Black2.5 is the most stable rom i had so far!!

Guys, I am synchronising with my MacBook Pro (3rd Party software to link to Pocket PCs). I don't see a backup option anywhere on the TyTN (I want to do a firmware upgrade, but need to back it up first).

Also, where is the cheapest walk-in shop to get a 2Gb Micro SD?

Thanks
