HTC TyTN / Imate JasJam

WM6, Lates Rom & Radio versions???

Ok guys thanks a lot for all your help...

I think I am now ready to pimp my phone and get the latest versions>
Can you please point me (links) to these softwares:
1. Windows Mobile 6
2. Latest ROM
4. Latest Radio

(I really don't know what the ROM & Radio does), so if they are not 'essential' I would rather have WM6 only.
I will download them tomorrow at work.

Thanks

HSDPA coverage on MTN network really limited in comparison to VodaCom's coverage. Just bought a dual sim for my TyTn to connect at *real* HSDPA speeds

Hopefully someone here can help me. I have two problems, my tytn drops calls often and its impossible to use the speaker function because the person you are talking to cant hear what you are saying.

Im a total noob when it comes to this phone. I havent installed any software or upgraded it at all.

tia

The official version of mobile 6.0 should be available shortly.
the Radio ROM well think of it as the dude that controls your connection to your network

@ Sarakael - check your Volume on the today screen and check your volume while your are on a call ...

Okay, Here we go again.

First, the disclaimer:

Upgrading ROM & Radio MAY BRICK YOUR PHONE! At the same time you are probably voiding your warranty by doing this! So be very careful and very sure you want to do this before going ahead.

That said, all of us guys here have done it and are very happy with the results. It should also be mentioned that leaf will probably ship an official WM6 upgrade on their website in 6 weeks or so.

Okay, so here we go:

1. SuperCID. Download this file . Unzip unlocker and run AUTO_Unlock_v3a.bat. This will CID & SIM unlock the phone.
2. Hard SPL. Download this file. and run the RuuWrapper while the phone is connected in ativesync 4.5. This will remove your bootloader security and enable you to easily recover bad flashes.
3. Radio ROM. Upgrading your Radio ROM is the most important TyTn upgrade. This will improve battery life, improve reception, and minimise dropped calls. Download the latest Radio Stack here. Run the Ruuwrapper while the phone is connected in activesync, and tick SPL v. 2.10 & Hard SPL.
4. Upgrade ROM to WM6. The currently reccomended one is this one. Install procedure is same as above. Remember, ROM upgrades remove all the settings from your phone, like internet connection settings (get from leaf) email, sms's are deleted, call history, contacts, everything!

Now, the above is a quick summary of what must be done. For comprehensive info and proper research & instructions, please read MrVanx's Upgrasde guide and the XDA WIKI!

Good luck

Just to make double sure; If I only want to upgrade the radio, do I need to do steps 1 and 2 or will I be OK doing step 3 only?

Ok, I downloaded the SuperCID, Hard SPL & Radio ROM. The link to WM6 ROM (Rapidshare says my IP address is busy).

My question is, do I need all these stuff? in order to get WM6, meaning that I can only upgrade if I have all the above?

One more question, since I am currently using WM5, How do you activate the my phone to 'go on standby/switch screen lights off) after a specific time in order to save battery? I have tried to do this via Battery/Advanced/On battery power/Turn off device if not used for - 5min. But I later found out that I am unable to use it after that, I had to get a phone call before the lights comes on (or actually use the phone). I remember I had to completely do a power On/Off. Any advice on this while I learn more about getting WM6.

Oh, how about a normal Screen saver? I currently have the Owner info as a screen saver and it stays on (lights) forever!! I'm kind of worried about my battery.

Thanks a lot

The CID - Country Identifier unlock utility is needed. Without this utility you will not be able to install a ROM that is not from the manufacturer.

by default the device should kill the power to the screen when inactive for a while ... i normally just hit the power button when i am done using the device.
Dump your screen saver if you worried about battery life.

if you are heavy on your battery i think you should look at one of these options

I've noticed that e-mails keep on deleting. I don't know whether this has to do with the fact that I have set the device to download the last 3 days. i haven't really looked at the details of the problem except to see that they are disappearing with out me deleting them. And they aren't in the deleted mail folder.

Sorry man

1. Do you need to have your phone connected to ACtiveSync in order to perform Step no. 1 (SuperCID)?
2. Since I am currently struggling to download WM6 ROM, can I only do the first three steps? Will my phone be of?
3. (stupid question:confused: ), Now where is the WM6 in all these steps?
Sorry for all these questions:D

You're quite right my post was extremely vague. But was thinking that if someone had mails that randomly disappeared we could the compare war stories and start there.

Using Black 3.0

1. This happens mostly with my POP based accounts (gmail and another POP3 account). The mails are deleted on the device. One time i can remember mails disappearing was when I chose for a mail to be fully downloaded when next i sent/received (did this from within the mail). Went to the Inbox and chose Send/Receive. Then all the mails disappeared on the device. Thing is this doesn't happen all the time.

2. The same has happened twice with the exchange server. Though these might have been caused by work on the server. Though my contacts did not disappear so I suppose that's probably not the cause.

Yeah, it's to so with your device being set to download the last 3 days. That means only emails from the last three days are stored on the device. This is one of the WM6 Changes.

1. Yes. Or read the instructions.txt file in the zip file to do it without activesync
2. Yes
3. Step4

Thanks

WIll keep on trying to download that file from rapidshare. Unless someone has a different link?

nah, not yet mirrored. When you click on the link, it takes you to rapidshare. Then click on "free" download. It should give you a timer. usually about 2hrs. Just refresh it every now and then, and the countdown will update.

Howzit guys.

when d/l from Rapidshare, I found it works best to use some kind of download manager made for these sites. Search for Universal Downloader Rapidshare get I think.

PS. I HATE Rapidshare.
