HTC TyTN / Imate JasJam

Ok, excellent ... busy running PIMBackup, and then SettingsSavior and see what happens after the Hard reset ... Thanks guys

Oh, and now my soft-keyboard has disappeared as well :(

I've got the HTC TYTN, and must say this is the biggest load of c**p I've ever come across, in 2 months of having it it has now gone in for repairs for the second time. Each time the same problem, the screen stops working or continuously registers the bottom left region being pressed ... try do anything on this phone without using the screen and you'll know what I'm talking about.

Then to add insult to injury, obviously a fair amount of these phones are failing as Leaf at their 4ways branchhas run out of curtesy phones and spare parts.

Considering I've used Nokia's for the last 13 years, and have never in that time had to take a single phone in for repairs it's a real reminder not to switch, should have waited for the N95!

ah. The screen problem. This is a well known issue affecting the first batch of phones shipped by HTC. As the phone heats up, it expands, and in the lower left corner of the screen it registers pressure due to expansion. There is no known fix. They should issue you a new phone from a later batch.

MS Active Sync sucks donkey balls !

As above ....... what crap software.

Yesterday it tunes me that something change on my server (it must be referring to my laptop) and it has to re-sync everything. Takes forever and deleted my voice tags in the process. Damn POS !!!!

The OTA via emoze actually was faster ........ time to check out that new beta.

Do any of your gents use a Bluetooth GPS Receiver, and if so pls tell me where u bought it from?

Just installed the TomTom South African maps and want to compare to Garmin nuvi...

Ok, so the Hard reset helped absolutely jack! we did manage to see a pattern though: If my wife responds to one of my SMS messages, I do not receive them. If she writes a new one, I do receive it. Also, Delivery notification is switched on ... I sometimes get the delivery reports, and sometimes I don't. If I do get one, and try to send a SMS (as a reply) afterwards, it remains in the Outbox. If I do not receive a delivery notification, I can reply and it delivers.

Weird as hell ... I don't know anymore. Will take it in to Leaf tomorrow.

I have a holux gpslim 240, bought on ebay. Try www.pdashop.co.za

Coolest gps on the market, we use them at the office, never thought they could make one that sleek. I'm using the 236 which is pretty much the same chipset, but with a bigger battery (and case of course). If I charge it once a month that's a lot!

I'm running tomtom6 with the SA maps, love it.

ROM upgrade - Activesync problem

I wanted to do a radio ROM upgrade last night, but could not for the life of me get my Jasjam to connect to Activesync (v4.5). I tried on my laptop and desktop. Both worked before. At work it connect and syncs like a charm, but I would prefer not to attempt the upgrade at work, rather in my own controlled environment at home.

Any suggestions?

PS. Tried rebooting the PC's and soft-resetting the Jasjam.

Good luck landyman. As for the downgrade back to 1.35 I found a way to downgrade from the latest WM5 Rom to the 1.35

What I did is use HardSPL which is available from XDA Developers and then I extracted the NBH file from the 1.35 rom and renamed it to HERMING.NBH and placed that file on my storage card (you have to format your storage card before though so it's the only file available). Then I restarted the phone in boot mode and it restored the 1.35 image file.

I have had the same problem with almost very one of the WM6 roms available currently. As I use my phone for business I don't have time to experiment to see where exactly the problem lies.

Oh well...technology-we gotta love it

re-install activesync. Run the install file, and select repair. let me know wether that works out, there are other things you can try.

@ari ... eish, no fun.

Oh well, will take it to Leaf today and fight the fight there. Guy reckons me yesterday I must take it back to where I bought it ... Told him to rather go piss in a pond: I used an official ROM from their official site and that screwed up my phone ... their problem and noone else's

R1400? That is quite pricy.. Looking to spend less than a grand. Maybe i'll call Garmin or tomtom to see what they can offer..

My 236 was $60 shipped to my door from ebay, could have had the 240 for under $100 too I'm sure. Remember to snipe that auction!

@ari ... my problem with AKU3 seems to be sorted *holds thumbs*. Check via SIM manager if you have any "Own numbers" on your SIM ... this seems to have been the problem on mine ... different SIM in the phone worked fine, and after they did that, I thought about the SIM numbers ... deleted mine and it is working now ... I hope :D

yeah, I paid $100 shipped from ebay. Limnos, do not buy sirfII chipset device! get a sirfIII definately.

And do not get a Garmin! Only Garmin Maps work on those, and you pay for updates.
