HTC TyTN / Imate JasJam

Hi all,

Thought I'd share with you guys: Had a Parrot Bluetooth Carkit and GPS (4300LS GPS) installed today, and running HandyMap 2005 on my TyTN ... it works like an absolute charm ... well, the 200m I drove out of the office gate. Will put it to the test on my way home this afternoon.

Nice thing is that the phone kit integrateds fully with the TyTN's contact list, including the voice dials, and the GPS integration with the TyTN/HandyMap is seamless, and pretty much spot on ito location and movement

For anyone in the market for a Bluetooth kit, and a GPS receiver, I definitely recommend this unit. The GPS picks up the sats like a charm, the comms between the GPS and TyTN is very stable, and the HandyMap maps are spot on (parked in the middle of an intersection to turn, and the GPS showed me exactly in the middle). Voice navigation rocks, and the rerouting works very well indeed.

Would love to compare with the Tom Tom software, if I can get hold of it somewhere (*wink wink*) :p

Eventually done! Black Shadow was worth waiting for.

I thought I had bricked my phone today, but luckily for SPL 2.1, all was alright in the end by God's good grace. I seem to have a problem everytime I try and update the radio. I have decided to leave it alone now. Got to 1% and told me it had ended sucesfully. Needless to say it hadn't, and I was stuck with the tricolor boot screen.

Eventually downloaded the WM5 ROM off Leaf's site and flashed that back on to the phone, and the updated to Black Shadow. What wasted so much time was trying to understand the XDA and Mr Vanx's sites and going through the reams of fixes for a ?brick. In the end, just a flash back to WM5 did the trick!

Black 4 seems quite quick and I like the weather settings etc. Had to enter Durban's details in the xml file but it was quick and easy.

Sleep well.

Wow, I thought I was the only one who sleep in the wee hours of this morning:cool:. Did I tell u that I overslept? I woke up at 7H45! But it was worth it. At least its over now. I hope to upgrade again when Leaf release their official WM6 update next month!

The thought of a bricked phone is the kind of thing that keeps you awake until it is sorted out! :D This is unfortunately the price one pays for this disease called "Flash itis".

I will catch up on the sleep this evening I hope...

i'm quite impressed with this little rom....
the 2nd time round it hasn't frozen yet....

Something strange happened tho - my ringtone "Stuttered" and then dissapeared lol

Still carried on vibrating tho...

And where the Time/Weather/Quick Launch thing is really handy - it is a bit big i think!

I really hope this rom will keep me happy.... "Flash-itis" is either as a result of wanting bigger, better, faster..... or the neverending quest to solve the Microsoft Problem

imo

Ok, I've been running Black Shadow since last night (22:00) and I must say it's MUCH quicker than the May LVSW edition I was using.
The new today screen is obviously inspired by Spb Mobile Shell and overall the OS seems very stable. Can someone perhaps help me with the process to edit the xml file to get the City weather working?

I got rid of the 'HTC Home' thinging. A bit too big for my liking! I think my updating nightmares are now over (well, till Leaf launches their official version).

Straight off the 4winmobile website at... http://www.4winmobile.com/forums/hermes-black-rom-support/9793-black-shadow-how-add-new-cities-htchome-weather.html

Visit AccuWeather.com - World Weather
Find your city and bring up its weather forecast in your browser.
Look at the URL and copy the location code from the end of the URL (will look something like locCode=OCN|AU|TAS|HOBART)
It should consist of 4 sections eg: OCN|AU|TAS|HOBART (Region|Country|State|City)

Go to the windows directory on your PPC
Copy the HH_0409_WeatherCities.xml to your desktop
Open in Notepad and insert an XML tag in to the list.
For Hobart, it would look like this:

Code:
<city name="Hobart, AU" locationcode="OCN|AU|TAS|HOBART"/>Make sure that the tag starts with a < and ends with a />

Replace the file in your windows directory

Hope you come right. Copy the file to your own desktop of your PC and then edit it.

Replace the Battery with Time

I actually want to replace the Battery (icon) with the Time.
Then put the Battery icon where it used to be (system tray).

Any detailed guidelines?

Thanks

The "HTC Home" thing looks good on paper, but as you said, it is a big ass space hog. Gonna try live with it for a few days and if it get's the boot then I will use my Phone Alarm, BatteryStatus, O2 combo again.

To move the battery Icon to the tray again use Pimp My Black or HTweakC 2.1

Thanks, I will try that. However, do you know how to move the battery to the system tray just like in earlier ROMS? Thanks

I think I will give this one a miss, the 850 is not a local frequency.

Same here, my machine is performing at its 'peak' now and I dont wanna ruin it:D. I was just posting the link for those who may want to test drive it:cool:.

For anyone in the market for a Bluetooth kit, ...

Thanks for the info on Parrot compatibility! Slightly different needs here, looking at the MK6000.
Does anyone know if the iMate Jasjam (specifically, as it is apparently software dependent) supports A2DP?

There are various AD2P patches available ........ some are included in apps like HTweakC and Pimp My Black. Does the BT hardware require AD2P ?

Does the BT hardware require A2DP ?

The model I am looking at does. I often listen to podcasts in my car, and the MK6000 offers streaming audio in addition to handsfree functionality. This would mean one less thing to sync with my computer, and no more having to hide the ipod when I park the car.
