HTC TyTN / Imate JasJam

WOOT! Hard-SPL loaded, busy upgrading the radio. Will probably run 1.43 till tomorrow, to see if there is a huge difference, and then go for Black Majik tomorrow afternoon

I think it might be my peculiar setup (running a VM off a external USB connected to my Mac). All files and docs are on the external. Not really the SPL being the problem, it is more the wrapper that didn't seem too happy to run off the external.

The radio is a definite improvement ... I have a spot on my way home where the old radio would drop connection, and never be able to reconnect ... tonight no problem. also, when the signal seems to be low, it doesn't break up as much (if at all) like the older radio

Which frequencies are you running on the radio ?

GSM 900+1800 UMTS 2100 <me
GSM 900+1800 UMTS 2100+850 < this should work as well
 
Hmm, the bug she has bitten me. I am going for Black Majik tomorrow :D
Any additional cabs you guys can recommend (eg. 3G dialer, Office 2007 :D, etc)?

Elias, I'm very happy with Majik and 1.43.. I use bluetooth quite often during the day and battery lasts thru complete day. (Sitting on around 10% now)

My only problem with 1.43, well I've been told its a network issue in South Africa, is that often when attempting to make calls it just drops. And takes 3-4 attempts to actually make the phone call.

Thanks Limnos, I actually upgraded to 1.43 last night but had some glitches afterwards (Resco Today Plugin was a bit messy - no appas were displaying, in fact I only saw one messy reddish line instead of apps/icons).

So, I thought it was the radio. I downgraded to 1.41. This morning I realised that I was still experiencing the same problem. I then fiddled with it then I realised that the trial was up - I then entered the Key and now ALL IS WELL. I just upgraded to 1.43 again, I will monitor it and see if there are any issues.

I had a similar problem last night. On the UMTS network full signal but I can't make a call and neither receive a call. changed my network to gms. all fine.

running radio 1.43 and latest official rom from leaf.
 
TyTN: Google Mail Account Disappeared!!!!

Hi guys

Something very weird happened on my TyTN

1. I normally use three email accounts, (Outlook, Google Mail & Windows Live).
Earlier today I noticed that my Google Mail account simply VANISHED!!!
First thing I did was to restore it via PIMBackUp. Even though it said restored succesfully, it was still missing in my Messaging. Then tried to SR to no help!

I then decided to create it one more, but when I have to insret the name "Google Mail", it said that there is an account with that name which has already been created .... WTF!!!!

Any ideas whats up? I'm, this close to HR the phone but I dont wanna do that cause reinstalling everything is such a major hussle:(

2. Whenever I open my SMS's I only see the blank screen. In order to see the message, I will have to scroll up first then the sms will be displayed. Any ideas?
 
I am impressed by Radio Rom 1.43 and Black Majik. After a day my battery is only at 30%. Which is quite an improvement on previous battery situations.

On 1 ........ do you set it up as an account on the TyTN. Not sure what that could be. Use the Java app untill you can figure it out.

Well for 2 you should untick D-Pad navigation in Pimp My Black ........

the vanishing accounts i have come across before ... it is bug that haunts certain ROM's ... i dont have a link right now but i used an app called " Mail Account Repair "

Yes. I also searched on XDA site, one guy also had this problem sometime in May. He ended up HR-ing.

Thats what I did as well Iif you ask me, I had too much time on hand. I finish work at around 12. So now I will try to reinstall all my apps).

Memory management

A question for the boffins out there:
I regularly listen to podcasts on my phone. Files of around 40 MB each stored on the memory card, but still use up a lot of program memory when I play them via Media Player. This often leaves only around 4MB of program memory free, which tends to make the system unstable. Funny thing (to me) is that the internal storage memory remains fairly high - around 40 MB.

Any idea how to make more memory available? (apps, registry tweaks).
