HTC TyTN / Imate JasJam

woot!!! guess who just got his bluetooth GPS working! Now its a Phone, PDA and a GPS!

bootloader is 1.04. dotVIBE I ran the instructions you PM'd me and still no go.

Ok.

So you ran downgrade SPL because you're on SPL 1.04. good.

Then you disconnected your usb connection is activesync.

You put your phone in bootloader mode and ran the maUpgrade in radiodowngrade 1.16
sof reset
Then you ran the unlock v2a on the phone.
soft reset.
then you ran the the maUpgrade in radio 1.27.
if you got country ID error, you just ran it again immediately.
soft reset.

correct?

Where are you stuck? what Radio ROM is currently displaying?

The problem occurs when I try to upgrade after the downgrade

EDIT: It shows the 1.16 Radio ROM

ok, and you've run superCID. whate error do you get when you run radio stack 1.27 ?

I ran SuperCID. I then connect the unit. Put in bootloader mode. Run 1.27. It stays on 0% for a long time (maybe as long as 5 minutes) and then Error 114.

I've restarted trying to update to 1.27 now

Looks like at the fifth time of asking, your PM instructions might work. For the first time the progress bar on the 1.27 upgrade app is moving. BTW what Bluetooth GPS did you get?

Holux GPSlim 240. I'ts as big as my little finger, but a charge lasts 8 hours. amazing stuff.
Just downloaded HandyMAp. works like a charm.

excuse the ignorance here but is the radio rom for listening to the radio on my tytn and if so please can i have details on how i get this, i cannot find a post which explains it or points to where I can get it from.

hallelujah it finally took. david see page 21 of this thread

does anyone keep disconnecting their 3G/GPRS connection because of paranoia. for some reason I keep think god knows what it is downloading

nah, it doen't keep downloading. for peace of mind you can install a gprs monitor. I use one from www.spbsoftwarehouse.com.

It keeps track of how much data I use, so at any time I know exactly how much I'm spending.

@david
Updating the radio rom does not give your device AM/FM, it just increases the effectiveness of your reception services.

so, has anybody beside me & D@rk Angel taken the plunge on the AKU 3.3 ROM flashes?

What more does it offer?
well, it's faster and has more features enabled. Plus supposedly some of the bugs are worked out.

But this is only a test version, so wait till the final release comes out. Unless you like to play.:D
IMO it works quite well, BUT, there is no quicker way to brick your unit than attempting this without the requisite skills or knowledge.

When the final AKU 3.3 ROM comes out, I'll guide those of you who want to take a chance through it.

Hi All.

Is there a complete FIRMWARE upgrade that includes ROM,Radio,Protocol & ExtROM or will one have to go thru this schlep?

Can't I just take my phone to LEAF and let them do it?

I didn't pay R2300 to turn my phone into a brick!

What is the latest official release for the above?

Tx

The latest "official" release is the one that should already be on your phone: ROM 1.35.255. This is a AKU 2.3 ROM by leaf btw.

Leaf says that they will ship their official upgrade to AKU 3.3 in March. In the meantime, if your phone is working 100%, there is no real reason for you to change anything.

Now, I can give you the link to an exe file that will automatically update the firmware to the AKU 3.3 test ROM, but you don't really want to do it that way. By just running the exe, you lock your radio bootloader, and can no longer downgrade or upgrade you radio stack. This is bad news because radio stack 1.27 is the best one, not 1.34 that comes with the full exe ROM upgrade.

Therefore, the best way to do it is to unlock the phone, extract the necessary parts of the new ROM, and flash the EXT ROM and the OS separately. This is quite a procedure. Not difficult, but rather long. And if you make a mistake you're stuffed.

IMO, unless you WANT to be technical and play around with your phone and don't mind the risk, leave it as it is until the official update comes out.

For those of you that are having issues with dropped calls & poor reception, upgrade the radio stack only for now. Let me know, and I'll run through it again if you want.

Those of you who MUST tinker with the phones, the test AKU is pretty nice. Shows E for Edge, U for UMTS and H for HSDPA. Is a bit faster, the modem utils is a bit better, and other small stuff. not a BIG change, pretty cool nonetheless.
