HTC TyTN / Imate JasJam

Hi all;

Installed the new rom package from leaf on Friday. Nust say, for you guys that are looking for a stable phone/pda, this is the one to go for. Voice calls clarity, etc is now more stable....

Couldn't agree more. Voice quality has improved, battery life has improved and overall it just feels faster :)

Okay.

Maybe I must refrase my question.

Has anyone been able to setup a bluetooth pan with there PC? The pan will also be used between devices for multiplayer games etc.

Tx

Has anyone had the problem of the sound on their tytn going way soft?
Only a soft reboot corrects this.

I don't know why or how to fix this.

A known issue on most WM6 ROMs. No known fix currently.

WM 2005 Bluetooth PAN

what's the problem?

I'd like to setup a bluetooth PAN between my PC and TYTN.

I'd also like the PAN between 2 devices for the multiplayer games.

Not quite sure if I'll ever use it, but if it can be done, I want it!:D

Bluetooth Active Sync

Hardware used:
- Desktop Computer
- HTC TyTN (PDA)
- Bluetooth Dongle

Software used:
- Windows XP SP2
- Windows Mobile 5
- Microsoft ActiveSync 4.2

Since Windows XP SP2 there are integrated bluetooth drivers in Windows. So there is no need to install drivers for any other brand bluetooth dongle. The advantage of not installing them is that this tutorial is the same with every Windows XP pc because the software used for the dongle are the same.

Let's start

First go with your mouse to the bluetooth icon in the taskbar and press on it with you right mouse button.
Open the menu "bluetooth settings".
Go to the tab "Com Ports" and select "Add".
Select incoming COM port and pres "OK".
You'll now see a new incoming COM port in the overview. Remember which number this port has. In this case it's COM 7. Go to the Options tab.

And select the upper box "make this device discoverable".

Now close the bluetooth settings application. And go to the ActiveSync icon in your taskbar and click on it with your right mouse button.

Select the menu "Connection Settings".

Here select the box "allow connections" and select from the pull down menu the COM port number you have made in the bluetooth settings menu. In my case COM 7 and close the ActiveSync menu.

Now get your device and open ActiveSync, in the menu from ActiveSync you'll find the option "Connect via Bluetooth", select this option.

You'll get the following pop-up on your device.

Press the "Yes" button and you'll go to the Bluetooth Settings screen.

Select "New Partnership".
And you'll find your Desktop. Tap on the Desktop icon and select "Next".

Your device will ask a passkey, you can make your own ,in this example we use 0000, and press "Next".

On your Desktop there will appear a pop-up window.

Click on it and the next window will appear.

Press the same passkey as you have used in your device and press "Next".

On your Desktop the following screen appears.

It's best to disable the discoverability of your Desktop for safety so just press "Finish".

On your device you'll see the following screen.

It can contain more services but make sure that the ActiveSync service is selected and press "Finish".

>
Now return to the ActiveSync application on your device and press "Connect via Bluetooth" in the menu and your device will sync through Bluetooth.

I hope this info helps

Anyone else have some feedback on Black Edition 1.2 please?
Is it better than the other Roms or should we wait for XDA v3.0?

I'm on Black 1.2

All is running smooth and simple. Best ROM so far imo. But I am waiting for XDA 0.30. When that hits, you can be sure i'll go for it.

BTW, My eBay bought 2GB Sandisk Micro SD came yesterday. Took ten days, cost $33.00. Now that is a bargain!

Not a bad price .. just hope the card fail .. but even so at that price you can send it back and it will still cost less

BIG Problem with Activesync

Anyone having problems with Activesync on their TYTN with WM6 Roms ?

I'm running XDA 2.01 ROM.

I have about 3500 contacts in Outlook.

It takes about 2 hours to sync.

Then every few days I get a msg saying "A change has been made on your server which requires a manual re-synch. All changes on your device since the last sync will be lost".

Then my only option is to resynch from Outlook, and lose recent contacts added to my device.

Very frustrating. I wish there was an alternative to Activesync!! Would Vista solve the problem for me?? Any tips please!??

3500 Contacts

No, I haven't had anything like that. Are you syncing with an exchange server? What version of Activesync are you using? Which version of outlook?

And no, it's most unlikely that vista will be of any help.

I personally dont have an issue .. but mt one of the guys in office has a hiccup wiff active sync ... we using outlook 2003 and active sync 4.5 ...
i think the issue is with his PC itself ... i have had endless problems with the machine for a long time ..
the initial sync can take a long time .. he has a similar problem to yours

Activesync problem

I'm using outlook 2003 (have also tried 2007). Obviously activesync 4.5 (the only one that works with WM6). I'm just syncing directly to my PC not to any kind of exchange server.

There are thousands of posts on various forums from people bitterly frustrated with activesync and looking for an alternative. I also found an obscure post from a microsoft techie admitting that activesync is their worst piece of software.

As far as I can tell there is NO alternative to activesync. All the progs that look like they might be an alternative turn out to be add-ons that actually work through activesync but just add a bit of functionality.

Beware everyone out there - create regular backups of all your contact and calendar data on your TYTN and on your PC. I fear this is a bug that will become increasingly apparent to many of us.

I've been researching software to export contacts directly from mobile outlook. It does exist but seems to be inadequate in one way or another. If anyone has a way to export all contact and calendar data from their phone and then manually sync it to the info on their PC, I wanna know about it. At least then when I get this recurrent error, I have a way to keep the data on both my devices.

Any more insight into this area would be much appreciated.
