HTC TYTN2 and GPS Software

apparently ... I heard... that the TYTN II comes with a free voucher to download the software from leaf. Is that not so?

I have/had the HP iPAQ 614C... very similar phone... and it comes with the default Google maps.

Leaf is mapping software, not navigation software. And anybody can download it as far as I know.

I use Nokia's Map software. I haven't paid for navigation though, so I just cheat and use the routing functionality. It doesn't give turn by turn instructions or anything, but at least you can see where you are going. Plus you can get maps for anywhere in the world, which makes it useful to use overseas as well.

I've used the trial version of Handymap Ai Gold on mine. Works pretty well in my experience. Haven't bothered buying it though, I don't often need navigation, can't really justify the price of the software.

Where did you find the trial version. can't seem to find it on their site.

From the front page of their site there's a banner for Handymap for TyTN II. It points here, but right now the link isn't working for me.

I can upload it somewhere tonight if you want.

The maps are a separate download here, if you want to grab the ones you want so long.

UPDATE: Weird, the link seemed to work now. If you have a problem with the link try these:

Installer. Unzip, copy the CAB to the phone, you know the drill.
User manual.

I use TOMTOM 6 on my TyTn II, and it works very well. It is fast and has voice support. Have also loaded Nav4all (its free) and it works just fine for a free proggie.

I've installed Nav4all but it never seems to be able to get a position lock, even when handymap can. Did you have to tweak any setting/s before yours would work?

I've tried Nav4All, but haven't really used it much yet. It did seem a bit slow getting a position lock, but got it in the end. Didn't need to tweak anything, I don't think.
