HTC Wildfire S

I got this phone in december and it was working fine untill about 2 weeks ago. Anything i try to download on the android market does not work. It tells me it will download the apllication but it never does. The screen shows the downloading bar, but there is no progress. Anybody that can help me?

Havent had an issue like this before, but backup your data and try a hard reset

Could be that your market is out of date.

Do you have a WiFI connection to try and update the market
 
Ah! Got a new software update for my Wildfire S this morning....apparently it's a new radio and bootloader.

Phone seems the same to me, but does not show dialer in battery usage anymore. That's already a win. :)

Bwhahahah Got that on my one aswell

Im runing Software Number: 2.13.401.2 with HTC Sence 2.1
Kernal Version 2.6.35.10
 
Just check if there is an OTA update. There was one and after i DL it and install it I got a exclamatory point in triangle. Seems im not able to DL it

That's the one I downloaded!

The phone seems ok, not slower and not faster. Might have to do some more testing, just installed the update this morning.

The download goes fine but when it reboots to install, i just get a exclamatory point in a triangle with an android dude sitting there. Its like it gets stuck and the dude is waiting for *insert text here*
 
I see the Wildfire S is not on HTC's list for the ICS upate.

Well, I sort of expected it, but now it's been made official.

Mind you, I slapped in an 8GB micro SD card, did a factory reset after the latest update, swapped the supplied earphones with a pair of Sennheisers - and the phone is absolutely superb. Love it. :)

*The Sense 3.5 ROM looks very promising.
 
Whatever you do, DO NOT install the latest Facebook app on your Wildfire S....use the FB app already installed on the phone.

Updating to the latest FB app brought my phone to a crawl & I was forced to do a factory reset.

Now the phone is lightning fast again. :)

I have been trying to root my wildfire s for some time now. Everytime I connect the phone to my PC in the bootloader menu the PC gives me the USB Device was not recognized error. The problem seems to be with the phone as I have tried it on windows XP, 7 and 8.1.

Please help me so that I can also root my device.

Have you unlocked the bootloader via HTC's web site?

*I'm holding thumbs that there is still a web link for it, as the phone is really old now.
