i'm sorry if it is like the zenith thread on this,

but i'm up for an upgrade and needs few opinions on why i should rather consider phone X over phone Y.

looking at either something in the lines of an iPhone, being either the nokia n97, HTC HD2 or iphone 3g it self.

one of the down points on the iphone for me would be that 2mp camera where as the htc hd2 or n97 at least features a 5mp camera. however both of them seems bit non-phonish if you get what i mean.

help ? opinions ? any other comments welcome too ;)

iPhone 3GS has a 3mp camera. I'd wait to see what the next iphone looks like (imminent???).
 
Also, Android 2.2(FroYo) is up to 450% faster than the previous releases of Android, so I think it would be ideal. I personally use both WM and Android, but I HATE WM! I cannot get rid of it atm, as my phone has both OS's, but the moment I can escape WM, I will. I cannot ever imagine only having WM as my only choice....It is the worst operating system ever, and far behind in our modern world.

Comparing my Dad's N97 to my Desire - there is almost no contest. About the only thing the N97 has going for it is the hardware keyboard, but the resistive screen and finnicky operating system really let it down. Having to click once on some things and twice on others is hugely counter-inuitive. Have not played with an HD2 myself - it looks sexy with its huge screen, but all the reviews I've read say it is a flawed masterpiece. Great hardware, but WM 6.5 lets it down.

If you're going for a touchscreen phone, I would definitely recommend the Desire, or the iPhone if you're specifically looking for a multimedia device since the iPhone is still a bit better with music and movies. Whatever you do though, try get something that has a capacitive screen and multitouch. Especially if you're going to browse a lot on the screen, it's a much more pleasureable experience.

Owning a Iphone and a Desire. Imo the desire is a better, faster and more business orientated phone, but for easy usage/workings the of UI the Iphone is the best.

Yup MTN is R339 but I suggested the cheapest option.
I would probably go for the MTN offer seeing as how you get just a bit more for your hard-earned cash.

I haven't seen it advertised either but this is the exact contract my bro took out for his Desire.
He already has a Talk 130 package with Vodacom but was too far from his upgrade so he got a 2nd contract.

Go into a Vodastore and ask them to check the system - that's what he did
 
well i need to be able to play mp3 and take decent photos.... can das desire do it ? :D. that's about my only real two needs i would have apart form can the phone run doom ;)

The new iPhone is coming on June 7th - although it will take a while to get here. If it has that 960x640 screen I'm very keen on it!
