HTPC - booting with a remote

I built am HTPC a while back

Dual Core
ASUS motherboard
4GB Ram
1x2TB Seagate
ATI 4850

Logitech Wireless keyboard and mouse connected to the ps2 ports and not usb.
The reason I had to connect them to the ps2 ports is because the pc would not boot when I attached them to usb - now that they are on ps2 " a couple clicks of the mouse and pc boots from a shutdown state"

Now I want to get a MC remote to control the thing - using a mouse is awkward.
These remotes come with a usb reciever.

Will it power up the computer when it has been shutdown for the day? like when i use the mouse?

If its in standby mode then probably yes.

Depends, if you are running XP then you need to do a registry tweak, but Win 7 you will have no problem waking the PC up. Or you can try this if you using XP : http://support.microsoft.com/kb/280108

I am experimenting with Win 7 MCE at the moment and have a MCE remote. The PC goes to sleep and wakes up again using the remote's power button.
