I really enjoy my HP Microserver running Openelec and want to build a htpc with similar functionality.

The case need to be a small form factor (avr like size), take a bluray drive and be relatively quiet.

I dont really want to try out a new build . I need something that someone has already done and is 100% happy with. Less than R5k if possible.

Any advise/comments. (No mediaboxes please. I have some, dont like it.)

What's wrong with the Microserver?

I'd recommend a Intel NUC, but they don't have space for optical drives.

I have the NUC. Running plex on it, as well as NZBDrone and SABNZB.

It is ****ing fantastic, takes no power to run, and does everything I need it to do.

I googled all that.... still no idea what it is , but I am also thinking of a proper HTPC. Right now just have a normal pc hooked up to the big screen. Its okay but I think it could be better......

How does an AMD Turino 1.5ghz in an HP manage then with an inferior chip? This double the score of the HP chip in benchmarks, so should be perfect

That actually looks good.

What is the cost?

I have had this case for almost 10 years now, the internals have been replaced but it still looks tits. I am wanting retire it for something I can hide behind the TV so that I can have it mounted on the wall.

I had one of those, but I lived about 100m from the beach/sea so it got rusted in no time. So I went for the aluminium lian-li, seems to last except for the front USB ports :p
