Hi

So lets just get this in it's own thread

Happy with my 5G with rain but need to move the unit to a more eye pleasing spot, so an external antenna will do nicely, don't have windows on that side of the house.

So, rain says I can buy external antenna from Incredible  Then I also phoned Poynting, said which unit I have and said I can use the following:

https://poynting.tech/product/xpol-2-5g-3/

But then going through some post, some members advice that it wont work.

So will or wont it work, that is the question. Anyone that actually tried and external antenna on the Huawei unit?

Thanks

Don't need increase, just want external antenna so that I can move unit.

If you look at any dual polarized antenna it only features 2x2 mimo because it only has 2 plugs. To get 4x4 mimo you would need two of these antennas to have 4 plugs. The 5G CPE only has 2 plugs so no 4x4 mimo on the external ports meaning 5G won't work.

5G NSA need a minimum of 4x4 mimo. Rain is running 3.5GHz

You have to use the external CPE as rain for 5G uses 4x4 Mimo i think or 6x6 those plugs at the back will only give you 2x2 so hence the 5G light will go off.
The only way you can really get it to work properly is run a lan cable from where it is ideal otherwise place it in the shitty position and log a fault with rain and say where you had it was outside etc which was the case with me in order to get it to work. Then they do some testing and decide on giving you the Outdoor CPE or not

Does anyone know where I can find online manual for Hauwei 5G OUTDOOR CPE N5368? Have been to Hauwei site jumped through hoops but unable to find it. Cant find specs anywhere on this unit?

Hi Guys, as mentioned by Cavedog, the antenna from poynting will not have a positive result. I for one had one of the Poynting 5G ready Antenna’s and the unit only made my signal worse. I returned the unit on Monday for a refund.

Aaaahhhh you too? Did you also need to pay a 15% handling fee? That is why I am asking who Nardus spoke to since they know it does not work. I asked them to come and install it and it did not work (about a month ago). I had to pay the 15% handling fee as well as the installation fee so I am out of more than R2000 without being able to show anything for it.

Hi Buddy, I paid for the antenna via our company account. We deal with Poynting quite a bit. So I basically asked a colleague of my who has a good relationship with the sales team to arrange that I purchase a 5G antenna and should it not work I return the unit obligation free. And to be honest they gave me no hassles on return and the cash was reversed back into my account. It must be noted that the testing and install was done by myself and I guess that’s why you had to pay the R2000

Your scenario makes total sense.
What grinds my balls is that I paid for their 'research' and they continue (same person) to tell people like Nardus that their antenna will work, knowing that it wont.

The sales staff work on commission and i feel that they sometimes fail to be forthcoming with the information they have. With all the failed attempts people have had with the Antenna they should ask their clients which device they plan on using it on and what the outcomes where with previous clients who had tried their antenna on such device. This would avoid a lot of trouble and reduce their reverse logistics quite a bit.

Agree completely.

I have got the specs in the box at the other house. Just check in the box otherwise it shows you all the FDD and TDD bands that it supports for 4G. There isnt any super detail on it just the bands

Have you managed to get into your ODU (192.168.8.1). Guy never took down the username/password which is supposedly a sticker on unit. It's generic username/password I'm assuming but have tried all the usual suspects and they have failed. Could you PM if you have it?

Anyone else feeling that the WiFi strength of this unit is incredibly lackluster? Like in the same room next to the router, 99 Mb/s, 3 rooms on but with almost direct line of sight through windows, 1-15 Mb/s. Time to invest in a proper dual band wifi router to use as an access point to the Huawei?

Not impressed with Q2 must be honest.

Took my pc back into same room as router, from 1-15 Mbps to 304 Mbps over WiFi
