I have been trying to purchase a battery for my Mi-FI unit but your call centre says I must book it in.What for I don't know

Why did your Canal Walk store tell me that it would take 21 working days to repair my P8 lite (2015)?

It has problems connecting to wifi networks, which the lady working there says is a common issue.

21 working days seems excessive unless you guys ship the phones back to China for repairs.

How about you provide software updates to your phones on a more regular basis? I have not received any updates on my Mate 9 since getting the phone 6 months ago.

Thank you Huawei for the battery and the gift. This was great service:)

Can the Huawei Rep or someone else in the know elaborate on what exactly the VIP service entails?

Dear NinjaVince

Thank you for your query. VIP Service offerings vary by device model. Please advise which device model is in question, in order for Huawei to provide you with the relevant information.

Credit were it's due, Huawei gave my great service today. Their Canal Walk store replaced my phone's motherboard in less than an hour.

After my phone started giving wifi issues in September it took a lot of back and forth to finally get it checked out. When they finally asked my to bring it in in early December, it turned out that my warranty had expired at the end of November. I was ready to go insane on them, but their corporate headquarters in SA agreed to cover the cost of repairs.

The ladies in the Canal Walk store were professional, had my claim on file and remembered to ask if I had backed up my data before bringing my phone in.

The issue seems fixed now. Service like that goes a long way to building a companies brand, and accepting a warranty claim after being slow walked to the end of one's warranty is a great show of good will. Today goes a long way to convincing me to get a Huawei P 8 lite (2017)/ P9 lite/ P10 lite or Nova as my next phone.

Why all the Huawei shops closing? What about the customers?

+1

My P9 charging was faulty and before committing to a repair, I wanted to purchase a new charger and cable (at my own cost) to test and eliminate issues.

When Huawei found out via this forum, they contacted me to rather come in direct and collect their charger / cable for testing from their office at no charge.

It was a little out my way - but I do think it was awesome service and a great offer to clients. Last week I bought my 4th Huawei

Dear Glue

Due to relationship challenges with one of our current partners some of our Brand Stores have closed temporarily until the issues are resolved.

In the meantime, for Service related issued, we have walk in Customer Care centres in Canal Walk in Cape Town and Melrose Arch in Johannesburg. We also have our newest Brand Store operating in Somerset Mall in the Western Cape.

Huawei are planning some exciting innovations in the Brand Store space in the near future. We are committed to Huawei’s Global Strategy of working with local partners to provide our customers with the best user experience.

I handed a P9 Lite in for repair at Telkom a month ago. On Monday last week I was told that the spares have arrived and repair will take place. Today, after numerous follow up I get told they are still waiting for some spares and those will only be provided by Huawei in the new year. This is really upsetting. In my household we have a P8, P8 Lite, P9 Lite, P10 Lite and a Mate 9 so I hope this isn't the norm when it comes to Huawei tech support.

(BTW - I have been told they are replacing the Screen, Mainboard, Fingerprint Reader and Rear Panel - sounds to me like it would have been more cost effective to replace the phone

Since I have been unable to get feedback on this from either Huawei or Telkom, maybe I should start looking at the Consumer Protection Act and demand a replacement:

"In terms of s56 (read with s55) of the CPA, all goods sold to a consumer are sold with an implied warranty of quality, that cannot be contracted out of or revoked. The warranty gives the consumer the right to receive goods that:

are reasonably suitable for the purpose that they are intended to be used for,
are of good quality, free of defects and in good working order, and
will be durable and usable for a reasonable period of time.
If goods are found not to comply with these requirements then, for up to 6 months after receiving the goods, the consumer can:

return the goods, or
get the goods replaced, or
get the goods repaired.
The consumer can do any of these things without penalty and at the suppliers cost. A general ‘voetstoots‘ clause will be insufficient."

What about a Mate 10 Pro that was bought cash and is not on contract?
I bought a Mate 10 Pro dual sim from a Telkom Mobile Store (Mall@Reds) and I bought cash (seeing as I didn't want a contract).
Any info please?
