I received my 2nd router today (2nd in 7 days), each time the mains power goes off the router goes off - it's not holding any power. If I pull the power lead out the router goes off. WTH is going on. Can someone tell me plse? I am getting no answers fm Huawei South Africa meanwhile the will to live is draining fm my body
 
Is that router meant to have a battery backup? If so have you confirmed that the battery backup is connected to the router?
 
I have the same problem. When I flip the light switch, all the lights in that room go off.

Bizarre.

the Huawei router is a B535-932. I noted now on the specs the router is only powered by mains supply. Sooo the cellphone/data provider in Johannesburg, South Africa ie Vodacom sold me the wrong router. Nobody who lives in Johannesburg, South Africa wld ever purchase a router which does not have it's own battery back up as we are constantly load shed by Eskom for every reason under the sun including due to Covid, I now need to purchase a new router that has a battery pack inside it

see my last comment. I am a blonde in all senses of the word - you need to understand that I blindly accepted the Vodacom sales person's recommendation for a router without 1st checking the specs of the router, had I done that I would not be day drinking right now. I wld hve seen on the specs where it clearly indicates router powered by mains supply only. 7 days of my life wasted, days I will never get back but a lesson well learnt!!! :)

You COULD just buy a router battery backup for a couple hundred rand vs buying a whole new router...

that will keep your router going for at least 4hrs

Day drinking ain't all bad, hope its some good stuff :-)

no. router is not meant to have a batter backup - contrary to what sales person told me. I only realised too late - ie when Johannesburg's City Power was testing the sub station and the mains went off on Monday and so did the router hahaha.

Glass of dry white with loads of ice - then back to my documents for my meeting at 8am tomorrow. thanks for all the feedback everybody. I literally felt all alone on the planet. I am calmer now - bought a Hisense router with battery backup fm Take A Lot, delivery next Tuesday. Let's hope Eskom doesn't load shed before then

No, I'm enraged with Vodacom's tactics of bait & switch - plus, you give me too much credit, I cannot bear the thought of an additional device. I'm working fm home so my hairdryer plug fights with other plugs :). I have already paid for the new router and I am not a fan of Huawei anyways

In 4 yrs I better be back in Cape Town and doing old school stuff - like chatting & socialising face to face and not need a backup for anything
