Huawei-B593 LTE router and a Telkom line plugin possible??

Ok, please don't laugh, it took me a lot (days worth) of researching confusing packages to come to this realization.
I'm investigating getting fixed line data at my house as I want to subscribe to VIDI to watch videos on demand (Mobile data far to expensive for that).
Sifting through tonnes of content I realise I will need a Telkom voice-line first. This seems to be the only way even though it grates me paying Telkom for something I wont use (voice).
I'm looking at getting an Afrihost bundle 2 Mbps, 50+50 Gigs pm at R 328 pm. (I assume 2Mbps would be fast enough for video streaming between 6 and 9 at night and on weekends).
Afrihost will then be the go to guys for all line rental and speed problems etc.

Now to the point, will I be able to plug the Telkom/ Afrihost ADSL line into my Huawei-B593 LTE router or, would I need anther modem for this?

I hope the above deal though Afrihost is the best for me, its frigging impossible to find out with all the different bundles from so may providers!
 
Noo...the line jacks in the B593 is for VOIP. You can also plug a normal phone into one of them to make normal phone calls.
 
Oi thanks! I was hoping I won't have to install another modem. I already have one and a cell extender installed.

I am in the exact same situation as Mimen. Are you saying that I cannot use my Huawei-B593 LTE router to receive broadband from my telkom/afrihost land line?

Sorry your reply to Mimen and then Mimen's subsequent reply are a bit confusing.
 
Hi hallcharger, from what I can see on the back of the router is that it has 4 plugs for LAN lines. One I have now plugged into my Mede8er so I don't have to connect it with WiFi. OK, loads of knowledge on this forum so if I'm wrong I hope someone will correct that. I think you van plug a Telkom line into one of the 4 LAN ports to have Internet access. There are also 2 Tel ports. I take this means you can plug a VOIP phone into it. Of your not interested in how networking works it's difficult to figure out what does what. Getting a super machine like the Mede8er that seeks to do everything for everyone is daunting. You've come to the right place though. People here can be super helpful. If I'm wrong we can both learn from the right answer.
 
Thanks k's Zunert! Are the other LAN ports then to plug in media players and? Well I don't know?
 
Not sure that router has a wan port, if it has you can just buy a cheap ADSL modem. Otherwise you going to need to get an ADSL modem router.

yeah you can use them for other pc's/laptops, access points etc. anything that will need connection to your network to use the internet provided by the 3g/4g.

+1, i don't see a wan port on the pictures so my best guess is OP needs another ADSL Router. its possible to get a cheap none Wifi model and link the 2 so you can use the Wifi from the 4G Router but thats over complicating a simple task.
 
OK, thanks again Zuner. I'll stick to my MTN LTE SIM then. Clocking 30 mag speed on a good day and 5 on a bad day.
 
Holy smoke! I sometimes wonder it I should rather have got the ADSL route. My package allows me 3 gigs then throttles my speed to something like 254 kbps. It's OK for surfing but my beloved YouTube streaming is then gone.
 
I like ADSL. Look I haven't tried LTE but even on HSDPA the lag while browsing is annoying. By lag I mean the response when clicking a link to it actually loading. I know once it starts loading HSDPA is good..
 
I know this is old bit I have a similar question. Want to get this lte router as a backup for ADSL. Can I connect it to my existing network and switch between ADSL and lte?
 
Nee ek praat nie van 'n tel lyn inprop nie. Het klaar gewonge ADSL router daar voor. Ek wil 'n lan cable inprop en hy moet werk as 'n wifi Access point. As my ADSL my moeilikheid gee sit en lte aan en gebruik dit in plaas van ADSL.

OK I see. I'm not to clued up but is can take 4 LAN ports. Google for the manual and see. If you can't find it I can send you a copy.
 
Hi! can someone assist me here, I have a Huawei-B593 LTE CPE Router and I'm trying to use VOIP services that is available on the router, i have tried Telkom technical services and no help at all from them except being transferred to every department with no luck. all i need is a VOIP settings. can anyone advise here.
 
I am also wondering if i can connect my adsl line to the Huawei LTE CPE B315s-936 modem. I have a WAN port.
