Huawei B618 Tel Port

And how does one go about learning about Voip en can it be used? Like a free internal system on your network? I have two premises linked point to point. The Huawei is at one point and give internet to both points, ie complete network and wifi. All setup and works great. What hardware will I need at the other point for voip?

You'd need a VOIP-enabled phone. You can buy them from most online vendors.

You'd also need a VOIP provider. Try Freshphone, they've got the best package I've seen so far.

Thank you for Freshphone. I had Axxess voice, they gave me a number that was recycled more than three times and their service doesn't even have muchoptions

What is this telephone port all about?

Register with Freshphone, Supply your Rica Documents, connect a NORMAL Analogue phone to it and it will allow you to make calls provided you have credit with Freshphone.

Got it working with no issues.

How? There are no VOIP settings on the router.

If you make a lot of calls, Vox Telecom offers unlimited sip calls for R 300pm.

I think they ment you need to purchase a VoIP phone. This is where you will enter the settings. Or get a provider that has a softphone, like VOX. :)

You can use Freshphone with an app on your smartphone (Zoiper, for example), but this comment specifically indicated a normal phone:

I'd also like to know what is meant here because I can't find anywhere in the B618's interface to put in VOIP settings. I'd quite like to use my redundant analogue phone to do something useful with its life.

On this topic: I stuck my normal CellC SIM card that I use in my phone, into the B618, and my analogue (old Telkom) phone into the phone port. I could make and receive calls, this was quite a cool feature I think.

When I picked up the phone there was a dial-tone kind of thing. Didn't seem to me as though there was any way to use a VOIP service.

Are you saying that If I stuck in my MTN SIM 50GB LTE Data 10000 MTN minutes R200 airtime deal I have with iPhone
I can call from there and it will use my MTN Airtime ofcourse

It seems as though the version of the device that we have is somewhat crippled. Other firmwares from other parts of the world probably have this VOIP option built-in.

Makes sense to have it built in instead of us wasting money buying a phone or ATA Adapter
But hopefully a firmware is released at some stage
