Hello everybody,

I have a Huawei E173 usb stick I got a few months back. I got it through 8.ta. It isnt sim locked and I can use any simcard in it. However the built in 8.ta dashboard sucks and I found that the orginal mobile partner software works better, however I can only find the PC client of the software.

THe current specs of the stick is:

*Latest Huawei firmware,
*Latest 8.ta dashboard software (flashed)
*Unlocked, not locked to a specific sim / provider

Does anyone know where I can find a way to load a up to date mobile parter dashboard to the flash of this stick? I found one the other day but it was so old that it doesnt have the win7 drivers to install the stick when inserted.

Any help appreciated!

You'll find UTPS16.001.05.00.45_MAC15.001.08.01.45_LNX15.001.08.01.45

Here: http://www.dc-files.com/files/huawei/modems/E173/

Select the Dashboard Update and not Dashboard Win as the latter is a PC installed version.

Hello,

I allready tried that one, and unfortunately its a much older dashboard that hasnt got the USSD and all the other features. Also my computer cant find the drivers for this device with this dashboard.

Thanks anyway.

Yes it has!

V16 has always had USSD, your modem is probably supplied without USSD enabled when used with Mobile Partner. Also if your modem doesn't get picked driver wise you'll need check to see what other stuff you've got installed still... Like old Mobile Partner or Vodafone muck!

You will need to edit some files to get USSD to work!

Check DeviceInfo.XML which can be found in C:\Program Files\Mobile Partner

Look for the section:
<UssdUnEncode>

<<<---- Add this!!
</UssdUnEncode>

Now to enable USSD you need to change the flag status for the item in plugins.xml which can be found in C:\Program Files\Mobile Partner

<plugin>

<alias></alias>
<clsid>6ADFE6DA-E212-4087-8466-043AB06DF4EB</clsid>

<setting_title></setting_title>
<version>0.1.0.1</version>
<type>0</type> <<<<----- Change from 1 to 0
<active>false</active>
<static>false</static>
</plugin>

Notepad works OK for editing but remember that you may need to change the properties from read only before you can save the file.

You can play about with Mobile Partner but do backup your files before making drastic changes!!

Thanks, will give it a quick shot. Though I would prefer to have it all preloaded onto the stick without having to change it on each PC I plug it into.

Thanks again.

Why not download the 8ta flash? Its mobile partner just with the 8ta logo, and has ussd.
