Anyone tried a Huawei E220 on Windows Server 2008 R2?

I first tried pointing Device Manager at the driver files and it found the Vista 64-bit driver (which works fine on Windows 7 64-bit), after a few minutes of grinding away, it stopped and with the error that driver was in use by another process.

I then tried installing VMC 4.4, the installer stopped responding while cleaning up temporary files. I then tried pointing Device Manager at the the driver files below the VMC folder in Program Files (x86) and after a few minutes it also stopped with the error that the driver was in use by another process.

Any ideas?

I tried the double headed USB cable (with power assist) and the Vista 64 drivers installed correctly.

Despite being unable to complete its setup, VMC 9.4.4.17702 worked fine after a reboot.

Strange, but then again, none of those things were probably intended to ever be loaded on a server OS ;)

Server OS? It's just Windows 7 with some extra services.
MDMA works fine too.

I think the problem was the server just couldn't supply enough current on a single USB port. The server has no speakers so I couldn't hear the sound of the Windows losing and finding the E220 if it was resetting itself.

I am sure Microsoft will argue with you on that one!

Doesn't it always? :p

From your description it does sound like it.
