Huawei E220 problem

My beloved but rarely used room heating implement has stopped working. Was working fine the last time I used but now trying to plug it in nothing happens not even a light comes on. I haven't tried anything with it, it is as it came from the box.

Sounds like its been toasted , strange though my 220 barely gets warm when in use .

Perhaps this is not an uncommon phenomenon? My E220 died totally last week, also after very little use, and eventually had to be replaced (under contract warranty) by MWeb -- even though the sales staff insist the E220 is particularly reliable.

If your computer can still 'see' the modem (in My Computer) perhaps you have nothing to lose by trying to reflash its firmware with the latest version off the Voda or MTN site? If you can't 'see' the modem then it's probably history. Mine flashed in and out of being 'seen' for a while, often only for a few seconds at a time, before dying completely.
