Huawei E220 wvdial setup.

You running Kubuntu? I know Ubuntu works fine but the K has issues. Actually just tested my 9.04 with a E220 in network manager and it works. (Posting this reply now on it).

tail your syslog and do a lsusb to see if your device is being picked up.

Yip, I am running Kubuntu !!!, this sucks big time.

Could you please post your settings for Ubuntu here, I want to give them a go (if at all possible)

As for "syslog and lsusb" I have too little knowledge on them?

Best is then to switch to Ubuntu and drop the K. The KDE users in the office are diminishing. Only got one guy brave enough to upgrade to Kubuntu9.04.

Ubuntu is automatically setting my E220 settings and the network manager is different, and far better to KDEs - I remember 2 years ago it was the opposite when Gnome did not even have a network manager.

I have made some progress albeit small.

Got Kppp to run but still wont connect.

Ok so I have already installed Kubuntu 9.04, how do I remove the K and run only Ubuntu?

I am seriously running out of cap:o

At last I was able to connect via Huawei E220 modem.

The followings was changes I made.

- Updated Firmware via Web.
- Inserted a new sim card with additional airtime. (I was not sure if the old sim was faulty)
- Installed Ubuntu 9.04, the modem was auto detected, selected service provider and "voila".

I wish this was possible in Kubutu but can not afford to keep on struggling with this issue.

While I love my Gnome, a lot of my buds love their KDE and it is such a pitty they screwed it up (KDE that is).
