Huawei E353 not playing along with D105 router

Hi all,

So with my ZTE it was dead easy to disable the CDROM via AT commands to allow for the modem to play nicely with the router (Planet). With the older Huawei's, it was done with AT^U2DIAG=256 and this was cool and all was at peace in the universe.

With the E353, this doesn't seem to be the case anymore.

This seems to be hit and miss. I haven't had a hands-on with the modem as yet, been helping a buddy through IM, but does anyone know of any other method before we start mucking about with the settings as advised in the link above?

Buddy is having a problem with 8ta via an E353 in a Huawei D105 router.

Did you manage to get a solution? I have a Huawei 353 and just bought a D105. Both seem to work, just not together. The router is not recognizing a usb card as present.
 
E353 Huawei modem not working with D105 router, need help

I have been using a Huawei E353 usb modem for a while now (mtn). I just bought a D105 router which is supposed to be compatable with the D105. But the router will not register or recognize the modem.

1. The stick works when used directly on my laptop
2. I can connect to the D105 via wifi and access the admin panel where I can see it says "usb card not present"
3. The simcard is set to not ask for pin. ( Though I have tried changing it to ask as well since the help document say it should be able to run like that as well)

Any ideas what the issue may be? I did mail Huawei support but their online form seems to be wonky and doesn't submit.

Any ideas would be appreciated.

If memory serves it was a firmware update that did the trick on the D105's side. I think in this case the supplier provided the update. PM me to remind me and I'll get hold of the guy tomorrow.

I picked up this little snippet of info on the Cell C website "The D105 router only works with a Huawei manufactured E1752 and E1820 Cell C Speed Sticks. The router does NOT work with ZTE manufactured MF668 and MF 190 Cell C Speed Sticks."
So there may be some issues with compatibility there.
also this advice has been published here previoulsy:
Plug the USB modem into the D105.
2. Switch it on.
3. Use your computer to connect via wifi to the router. It should say D105 on the Wifi network
4. Open your browser
5. Go to 192.168.1.1
6. On the webpage, enter admin for username, password is admin
7. Work through the menu. Setup your Wifi Security. Under internet, the dial code (can't recall what they call it) is *99#
8. Change your admin password
9. Restart
10. Reconnect with your computer to the wifi network
11. Check your settings on 192.168.1.1
12. Start surfing.

However I suspect if it says USB not present then it may not be recognising your USB modem
It may be the firmaware is not the right one in the D105 you can download the latest version here
