Anyone have a Huawei G7 which won't charge past 40%?

Or at least the battery indicator won't move past 40%, but also never drops below 40%.

Battery life still seems to be the same.

Stock ROM. Stock everything.

Anyone?

Remember a friends P6 doing that. I recommended she let the battery die and then continuously press the power button until the phone is completely dead and it won't show the charger display anymore. This helped her fix the problem and hasn't given her issues since then. I also noted that she charge the phone in the off mode and then turn on and unplug from the charger only when it's fully charged.

I had a similar issue with the P1.

On a side note, my uncles G7 screen cracked quiet easily when falling from his jeans pocket onto paving. Moral of the story, big phones need covers and screen protectors.

Thanks for the feedback.

From googling, it doesn't seem to be a common issue.

Did you find the battery life was affected at all or just what was being displayed in terms of battery percentage on the phone?

I found the percentage to be off. Mine lasts the same about of time but the percentage was stuck at 100%.

I have my P1 for 3 years now and the battery is about the same as new. Never replaced :)

Well that is promising. I hope I can somehow reset the battery measuring device, then. Not great never knowing how flat the battery is. Though it does seem you can easily get a day + of moderate usage out of it.

Huawei seldom use gorilla glass and the glass they do use isnt really tough. Always use a cover. The G7 looked like a cool handset,i almost bought it.

I actually tried to do that with my P6 when my battery was faulty, but I would've been pressing the power button all day if I had to wait for it to not show the charging screen, lol!

Anyway, have you tried a factory reset? Also, what does it show in the power saving and the battery screens? Is it also always 40%?

It is always 40.

It says it is charging and x amount of time remaining...

On the P6 I think you do it by pressing both volume up and down the same time as pressing power button to power up the phone. Will then go into recovery mode and then scroll down to "reset"
Yep, but that will delete the internal memory.

Just go to Settings> Backup & reset > Factory data reset, and make sure that "Erase internal storage is NOT selected before selecting reset.

Make a backup of all your data using the Backup app. When you restore your apps, it will restore all your app data as well.
How do I do that? It's not a removable battery...

Excellent. Thanks. It's my mom's phone so I'll do it when next I see her.

I prefer doing a complete and total wipe.

Me too, just wanted to save him some trouble
Ya. I don't think there's much stuff of there so a total wipe might not be the worst idea.
If your mom uses WhatsApp, just copy the WhatsApp folder to the SD Card, if she has one in case she has any photos, or files sent to her. Just copy it back before installing WhatsApp, so that her backup can be restored. If she's anything like my mom, she'd want to keep all of her previous chats.

That's some sound advice right there

Update.

Phone has now died. Battery at 0% and seemingly not taking a charge at all.

I tried pressing all the buttons at the same time and this is what I getuploadfromtaptalk1436861364651.jpg

And it just hangs there :(
