I have Huawei K3520 USB stick.
It loads and works perfectly in on my laptop (and has done so for more than a year now.

Until recently I used it on my home PC as well with no issues. On Monday I switched the PC on and inserted the USB stick and immediately got an error message. After a few attempts I uninstalled abd tried to reinstall to no avail.

On a previous occasion, i suffered the same problem. I was running bitdefender anti virus. Vodacom help advised me that Bitdefender was the worst and that they had many reports of conflicts. I phoned bitdefender and they told me, quite obviously that their product could not do this. I formatted the machine in desperation and reloaded everything. Subsequently I bought a new PC. USB worked fine until i ran a Deep System Scan on Sunday with Bitdefender. Since then VMC refuese to open. Uninstall, restart PC, try to reinstall. All goes well until it tries to start services. Then error and that's as far as i get.

Other tha format my PC, because I know that works, what can I do or where can i look to resolve the issue. I run XP, Pro.

I will have to get home and get exact details, but it keeps creating an error report which I do not send. After clicking do not send many times, it rolls back and uninstalls itself. Sorry for the lack of detail, I hadn't anticipated such a quick response. I have tried restoring the system to the last settings before the virus scan but this also doesn't help. I have uninstalled the bitdefender, even this doesn't help.

Sounds like some software is crashing.

Check on Vodacom's download page that you have the latest VMC Lite installed on your modem, also try installing the full VMC available there.
You can also try MDMA, an alternative dashboard, there are also drivers available on the download page which definitely work in Windows 7 (just choose the Vista ones).

Thanks, I'll give it a bash. I downloaded the drivers for VMC yeaterday and when I got home last night tried to install it. As per before, the installation goes well until just 1 green block to go and the application tries to start - then error message. the message details make no sense to me. If I understand correctly, your driver is similar (but better) than the original VMC?

Technically, the drivers are supplied by the Huawei, when you install VMC you get the drivers and their dashboard.
I made my own dashboard which takes up far less disk space and memory and has a different set of features.

Hello michaelm,
I am getting the same problem that you had. Were you able to solve the problem?
