Huawei Mate 40 pro pre order has been launched from 23 March 2021 to 1 April 2021 values at R19 999. What's eye catching is the deposit special of you pay a deposit of R500 in this period and extra R1500 is deducted from the balance meaning you end up paying 18 499. As if that's not enough you choose between the Huawei smart scale, Huawei GT2e watch, free Huawei VIP membership or Huawei free buds 4i. Check out the link below

Better would have been to give a free Samsung phone along with it - perhaps people will then buy it.

I've been playing with the free stuff that came with the phone.
  • Scale: works decently, as expected.
  • The Freebuds 4i: very nice earphones indeed. Great sound reasonably configurable, and they don't fall out of my ears. Battery life seems good. Integrates very well with the phone.
  • GT 2e watch: as a smartwatch, very decent. Notifications work well, I like the watch faces, and the sensors - pulse, oxygen, etc. etc. seem good. The Huawei Health app is a lot better than I expected. The GT2e is also pretty slimline and comfortable. As a fitness watch though, it falls well behind dedicated watches like Suunto or Garmin; the display during an activity is not configurable. I do like the way the watch acts as an accessory to the phone - remote trigger for the camera, find the phone, etc.

Mate 20 Pro is my first phone with a curved screen.

Amazing device, powerful, great screen, battery life is great, lots of storage but that curve... never again. Never, ever again. Cant type properly on the edges, activate it by accident while palming the phone constantly, the most frustrating is when using the Plex remote control, pick up the phone to change volume or pause/unpause and your palm resets the slider to the start of the film, like FFS man. I literally cannot handle the sound of my wife saying "ugh" like that even one more fscking time... I just cannot fathom how anyone thinks it's a good idea.

Literally gong back iPhone for this single reason. Good god I know I'm ranting like an old fart but jirre.
