I bought a Huawei P8 lite privately yesterday. I assumed that it is dual sim. After a lot of research, I noted that certain service providers lock the phone to disable "Dual sim management". Any idea how I enable it. I am desperate.

What service provider are you with? I've had a few dual sim phones and not had any problem in the past.
I ask, because if it is locked, it'll be down to the service provider (as you say) but I wasn't aware any of them in SA would do that. A similar thing happened to me in Senegal with an iPhone when the SP (Orange) locked the hotspot feature. So I know things like that happen.
So if your SP is locking it, you can only change to another SP. But I'd be surprised if that was the case.
Is it the 2017 version? If so, that has a dual sim capability OR a single sim and a memory card. Not sure about the older version though.

Another so called "dual sim" phone. Why can't they call them shared slot 2 phones rather than dual sim phones. You can have either 2 sims or a sd card in slot 2.
It is either:
Locked by SP FW
Has a sd card in slot 2
Doesn't have sim 2 activated in software
Check all 3.
