Time to start an official thread for this phone which arrives next month (June).

I am excited for this one for the following reasons:

*Metal unibody = quality materials for nearly half the price of the S6
*3GB Ram and a powerful processor (not quite S6)
*Dual Sim (This is one of the biggest draw cards for me)

I currently have a S4 and it still makes me happy - I would go for a cash buy S5 but really want dual sim. Importing does not appeal to me due to warranty issues and delays. While the Huawei will launch at a similiar price to the current cash prices of the S5 and performance will probably be similiar, the P8 will have superior build and finish and that very valuable dual sim facility!

Anyone else considering getting a P8?
 
I would, except that I have a Mate 7 already. It ticks all the boxes above (I have the gold variant), and with the massive battery I have no complaints.

Where did you get yours from? Does indeed tick all of the boxes and that massive battery is appealing..
 
R389 p/m On SmartChat 1GB was the hero deal I got it on. That's 1GB of data (split), 25 minutes of calls, 25 SMS I think.

Signing a contract with Cell C. Shudder...

Will browse for cash deals or wait for P8 launch...
 
I see Huawei are also making a P8 MAX, which has a 6.8" display, compared to the P8 that uses a 5.2" display.

Now, if the P8MAX comes to ZAF then I would be very interested in getting one
 
Mate 7 is total class. The feel of the phone is premium and the quality of the display is just as good as the Note 4.

Do you have the G7?

The G7 will most likely be my next upgrade. I'm not a gamer, so that won't be an issue for me.

Used it for a couple days and sold it as the lag in games drove me crazy.
But apart from that a very nice phone for the price.

Awesome, thank you. So I should be happy with the phone then. Hopefully it won't be too big for my girly hands.
 
Seeing online chatter that the UK will be getting a single sim P8. I hope the same does not happen for SA but with our networks already having announced that they will offer the device, the chances are fairly high they will opt for the single sim device :(

The only network that might offer the dual SIM will be Cell C
