I have a P9 which isn't bad actually - but always looking at something faster at a decent price. A friend of mine has a Huawei P10 sealed which I'm keen on. A few questions :

Pricewise - the P10 new is around R8,500 on average?

Fingerprint sensor - I thought P9 was weird placing it on the back - but I love it! Now, the P10 has it on the front ... which seems awkward. Anyone able to comment?

Software - as the P9 also has EMUI 5.0 (or 5.1) and Android 7 - I guess the software experience in the same ?

Do you normally put a screen protector or not because you will have to on the P10 as it Lacks oleophobic coating Which the P9 has

I have a P10 the button is on the front because it has gestures like swipe, press long hold to do various things

If you really want a newer phone then I'd say go for it.

I think the major winning points for the P10 vs. P9 would be:
- The larger 3200mAh Battery
- The newer and more power efficient Kirin960
- P10 should be getting Android 8.0 with EMUI8.0 shortly which is a massive improvement from 5.1
- The Fingerprint Scanner at the front is the best placement in my opinion, it makes it easier to reach and do the gestures.

Thanks guys.

On the battery, I read that although it's larger capacity - it's equal or even worse. So that's not even a motivation or justification :/

Did any of you guys have a P9 - or straight P10?

I think the P10 would have to offer much more value for me to upgrade from a P9.

Phones are getting more pretty, but lately there isnt that much difference really between them in this category.
But if you are a gadget man, like the latest, can afford it, well the world is your oyster.
At the moment my P 9....has all the bells and whistles necessary for me, but i like the updates, as you do see some nice other stuff
coming on some times...Waiting for Oreo now.

The P10 is a great phone. The fingerprint sensor on the front is a huge improvement over the rear... use thumb print to open, swipe gestures are a neat addition etc.. all with one hand.

I ended up getting the Mate 10 Pro

Happy the fingerprint reader is on the rear actually. I like that positioning
