Took my mate 20 pro in to huawei service centre to replace the battery under their R199 campaign.

Besides them not actually changing the battery, trying to clone my phone without my permission, and a myriad of excuses that don't make sense, I'm now left with a weird black dot on the screen just below the notch, and it seems to be growing.

Anyone had this sort of experience before?

Take it back, tell them what you problems are and see what they say. Also, wipe your phone yourself. They need the phone to be unlocked to check functionality, so they will have full access to everything. Better to give them a blank phone.

I'd given the phone to them in maintenance mode and instead of working on the battery they said they had to change the screen, then the motherboard, and eventually put everything back together again. The phone is still under warranty so I don't understand why it's such a big problem.
Really don't have the time to keep going back and forth with this due to no fault of mine.

With the waterproofing etc on these phones opening them up must be a bit risky. Looks to me like they have damaged the screen so that now needs to be replaced.

Which store was this?

Are the R199 battery replacements only for phones still under warranty?

And if not, I thought this was only an occasional when advertised promotional offer, every now and then...

Did the battery replacement really cost R199 ?

Take it back, I'm sure they'll replace it.
If you have any proof of the phone condition prior to sending it to them, that would be great.
Like a video or image.

They know, because they checked and verified that the screen was immaculate, with original screen protector on still.
Worse, this thing keeps getting bigger with time.

Has anyone had one of these CA Certificates installed automatically? What does it mean? Never had it happen until this last experience with Huawei.

Took 1 in to Menlyn about a year ago. They fixed the problem (screen) but found out after that the speaker or mic was faulty, was not my primary phone).

Sent it back with a friend and got sorted out a day later.

Check for any recent app installs. Adblocking and VPN apps could install a custom certificate.

Thanks all.
Is there an email address for Huawei in ZA?
Can only find a contact number and the WhatsApp support.
