I used to have LTE internet with the Huawei B618, and signed up for fibre and got the WS5200. I'm not sure which is better, can anyone help? And can I connect the two (with a LAN cable in the roof) to extend my wifi signal?

Personally I would go for the Huawei WS5200. It's a ethernet wan router so the features are based on that function of the router. The B618 will work but it's primary function is to be a LTE router.

You can play around with both of them once the fibre is installed and see which one works best for you.

The b618 might support Link+

Routers that support Link+ can be linked together to form one large roaming network. When connected, they will share the Wi-Fi name, password, device login password, Wi-Fi blocklist and trustlist, time zone, and auto-update settings of the main router. If the main router's settings are changed, they will be synced to all routers in the network.
Now you can easily move around while staying connected.
Enabling Link+ will also enable the UPnP function. Please restart your router to ensure Link+ functions correctly.

You can find it under Advanced/system settings when you log into the router

I am not sure if the WS5200 supports link+ but if it does then using both together should work nicely

I have not used link+ myself, so I can only assume it works decently

Thanks Afrinatic, I'll use the WS5200 as my main router then.

Thanks rodga. I did google around a bit to see how to set it up LAN to LAN (to use as an extender), but the PPPoe v DHCP etc threw me a bit. Will do some more digging and rigging to see if I can figure it out.

To avoid a double NAT situation you might need to DMZ the router used as an extender. The WS5200 have a build in extender function as far as I can remember so it might better as an extender but it's also a really good router. You can play around and see what works best for you. ;)
