Huge EA Play price hike

Electronic Arts has implemented a big price hike on its EA Play game subscription service in South Africa, including more than doubling the fee of its entry-level annual plan.

The adjustments were confirmed in emails sent to EA Play subscribers in multiple countries, but South Africa seems to be getting among the worst hikes.

Yep. Stopped renewing after this and all the fraudulent transactions on my card which I had to cancel, twice
 
EA play still comes with Xbox gamepass at a fraction of what EA is charging for their standalone service. It's literally R79 PM vs the ridiculous price EA wants.
 
I don't know whether people know, but some game base prices have also increased. I am not talking about new titles.

Online libary rentals, well, it needs to be sustainable. All these services will increase their price. The pie is only that big.

The normal one is already in GP Ultimate. It makes zero sense to subscribe to it when you can get GPU for a little more...

Then the price on Xbox still needs to be updated. It is already updated on Steam.
 
I am curious now. Will MS and EA depart, in May, because why have a EA sub when you can have a Game Pass Ultimate sub?

Only applicable to Windows and Xbox. On PS it's the only option. Same as how Ubi Classic is included in PS+ but not GP...
 
In respect to EA. For those who like their ecosystem, they do have good specials, and well, most games are now available on Steam which gets the same discounts, but not always at the same time. I can say the same about Ubi. Markdowns are appreciative.

You wait, long enough, you don't need a sub. Except that, uhm, seasons, lol.
 
Some of the worlds biggest idiots, you'll find among gamers. I mean, example: Star wars Outlaws is coming out end of August, little over 4 months. And there will be those that will cough up a lot extra to get it 3 days earlier. Even those that cough up more for cosmetics.

Soooooo, no matter how much they bump up the price, there will be people who still will sub on EA.

Yeah its now cheaper to sub to game pass that comes with ea play than ea play only.

What, I didn't say it is on EA? It's an example of what some gaming idiots do, waste money. I did circle back to EA in my final comment, could've probably distinguished more between the example and the point.

Edited my post to be more distinguishable. Did I do a better job this time round?

Playstation is the most expensive platform to game on.

Game Pass ultimate (includes EA play) R129 per month
Ubisoft+ console & PC is R209 per month.

Total monthly cost R338 per month and I almost get all the games I want including all the brand new Ubisoft games, all riot games, massive collection in game pass including new releases and some AAA titles like Diablo 4. There is nothingh like this on Playstation.
