Hi there

I have this problem that some of my back USB isn't working and that sometimes (about once every 2 months) my pc won't boot as it is not recognizing some of my drives. Like this morning when i was using my pc suddenly my pc just hangs.

What I have tried:
1. Swapping out the hard drive
2. reinstalling windows
3. memory test (no errors detected)

I suspect that my motherboard is faulty.

specs:
Q9450 oc to 3.2GHz
Geforce GTX 280
5 Hard drives
4GB Apacer Giant DDR2 1066MHz
Cooler master Sniper case black edition
Zalman CNPS 9700 CPU cooler
MSI P45 Platinum with latest beta bios (happened before I updated)
Wind 7 pro 64bit (original)
Corsair TX650w

I bought everything from pinnacle except for the PSU, cooler and Case. My other problem is if they credit me then what do I do with the CPU and memory, will they also be able to credit me for that. Taking out the motherboard is a lot of effort but if I have to I will do that

Sounds like it could be Mobo. Try booting to OS from another PC from your HD and see if it still happens. If not, then Mobo it is.

Nope, connect your HD to ANOTHER Mobo to see if you pick up any issues.

Flash the motherboard. Then throw it away and preferably find one with a similar chipset.

what if it picks up some issues? Then It might be the Hard drive? so why does it happen to many different hard drives in my pc? Actually I think there is nothing else i can test. I tested the cpu using Prim95 and also Tested my GPU using msi kombuster and furmark. no errors also tested the memory using memtest and no errors. Also did a chkdsk and no errors.

well pinnacle take motherboards in with no hassles. They don't check if the bios has been flashed. so no issues for me. i don't want a worse performing motherboard. I was thinking of just going for a i5 750 setup. that will cost me +-R4349.1

I'm almost certain it's the motherboard. And I don't think flashing it will help but it's worth a try.

I'd just try update the mobo firmware first and then ensure all mobo/chipset drivers are up to date.. If that does not work, then return it

If you're getting disappearing drives & things you more than likely have a corrupted/infected BIOS. If you've flashed it & your problem keeps coming back then something you're using (hard drive, flash drive, etc) is reinfecting your BIOS. It's a never ending circle, not a square, a circle. :P

I've had disappearing drives, onboard NIC just stop working, USB acting up - all solved with a BIOS flash. You boot drive needs a complete format & OS reload after flashing. Why spend R4k if that can fix your problem & then just wait for the release of the LGA 1155 platform before you upgrade?

ok cool. I will do that. I think I'm running the latest bios. It also happened with previous bios version.

ok will wait for that
