I don't think so. A stable job makes me feel like a slave to society. Autonomy would make a greater contribution to human dignity.

If you include entrepreneurship as a job, one can argue that without a job, you don't have money for food. Most people would lose their core dignity without food.

I think the issue is being conflated here with needs, rights and dignity. I need food, water and air to live. Some may argue that these are my rights, but they are in fact my needs. My rights are to be treated equally and without prejudice (Broadly speaking). My Dignity is something subjective to me. Having food does not make me dignified.

However, the lack of good food may result in me doing something undignified like dumpster diving. But after many years of dumpster diving, I may find that subjectively I feel dignified in the fact that I am able to survive regardless of the hardships.

I see dignity as the same kettle of fish as taking offense to something. I might put a bucket of custard above a doorway and embarrass you in front of many people. In some ways that can be seen as an assault on your dignity. You might take offense to that action. But have I infringed on your needs or rights as a human being? Not really.

Now human rights is a debatable topic. Especially the Human rights that are expected to be given by a government or agency, to those people that do not contribute to the financial kitty of that government or agency.
