These seem to be a ton of cheap units all over Takealot in the shape of bears / bunnies / kittens - but they actually any good ?

Is it better to maybe just go to Clicks and get a 'normal' one ?

But do they actually work?
If tap water do they have a built in filters?

Edit: Last one I had was a Beurer LB 45. It did something I think.

Just use a normal humidifier...it does not have to look like a bunny to do it's job for a child.

How old is the child and why do you want a humidifier?

They're 9 months old and they've been in hospital 3 times already for respiratory viruses. While I acknowledge a humidifier isn't going to help for a virus , I'm thinking in general it can't be bad . The pead is indifferent about them and says it can't hurt to have one .

Bottle fed baby?

Rather look into air purifiers imo.

Childs nose stuffy? Recent ear infections

Something on these lines

And keep it in the baby's room. Added bonus will provide white noise for sleep time

Also is the child sitting up on their own yet and drinking water through a bottle sippy cup or straw cup ? (Only boiled and cooled water to drink)

Also are you clearing out their nose with something like a nose frida

We used humidifiers for our 2 when they were that age. It helps for dry stuffy noses so that it is easier getting the snot out.

It cannot do any harm and may help, so why not, I say. But obviously definitely not a "cure" for whatever underlying issues there may be.

Good luck.

I would rather go with a Steam Vapouriser.... but make sure you aerate the room well during the day so that it dries out properly.
Otherwise you're going to get Mold.

An air purifier would be the better option....

We just used the Vicks one from Dischem. Also uses the Vicks pads to unblock any congestion.

Those mini ones are useless unless your face is physically next to the thing. You want something that can humidify the whole room...

I got a Levoit Classic 300S as a gift many years back and it's still going strong. Looks lekker too.

We have one of these and they work quite well.

Especially with our little one had a dry cough, it helped her sleep.

I do recommend leaving it on the auto setting, as we accidentally let it on the manual setting and we could barely see our daughter when we went into the room the next day. Everything had a thin layer of water on it.
