Humming noise coming from Sony AMP - DDWg800

My Sony amp is giving off a humming sound, I disconnected and reconnected all the speakers, unplugged all other audio and video (dstv) items, humm still there.

With just the Sony amp powered on , I connect the first speaker (say center) can hear humming, replace the cable still humming, try another speaker still humming?
It's plugged directly into the electrical socket (no other items are on), on googling I apparently have to ground the system?
The amp is on a three prong plug with no earth (green) connection.

What can I do?
The only thing I can think of is the outside antenna is coming through the wall, the antenna is not grounded on the roof?
I have an antenna and dstv dish?
Think any of them could be the culprit?
 
The humming is coming from the speakers and not the actual physical amp.
 
My sub used to hum, but not the rest of the speakers. Replaced my Sony Amp with something decent. Sony does not make amps anymore. It is just glorified home theatre systems.
 
I'm thinking it's the aerial on the roof , it's not grounded and apparently can cause problems.
It's unnoticeable when on full volume, but it never used to be so bad.
 
It's supposed to be a common issue, but to solve the problem "grounding" they don't explain very well in "lamens" terms.

Yeah. Could be the aerial needs to be grounded. Does the aerial connect into the amp?
 
Aerial connects to an mnet decoder which in turn connects to a dvd recorder which connects to the amp which then connect to the LCD TV
 
Hi there could be several causes for the humming

1. Biggest problem with our electricity in SA is Dirty Electricity,
2. The amp is not grounded as you stated above 1 speaker connected to amp with no inputs and humming is still there could not be grounded properly
3. 1 or more of the capacitors are failing.
4. The amp was not supplied with a built in noise filter.

Dirty electricity 1 way to test this is to use your pc speakers in any wall socket crank the vol all the way and listen for any humming. If yes than you can buy yourself a UPS or a 220v noise filter from any good sound or electronics shop.

Amp not grounded if your amp has a metal case, power up your amp stand with no shoes rub lightly with your index finger on the case if you feel a little tickle then you need to ground the amp with a external earth cable to a wall socket

This could be a leaking capacitor or the built-in noise filter dying get it repaired.

NB: With grounding all of your equipment you could cause a lot of damage to your items with a Earth feedback, earth feedback is if current that hits the earth close to your house gets transferred through the earth then the earthed equipment in your house will be damaged (dose not happen frequently but can happen) Items that only have 2 wires (brown-L and blue N) and added earth to the chassis of that equipment has a high chance of been hit by a Earth Feedback.

Plugged in pc speakers to all wall sockets in the house and got the same result, humming through all of them, going to try a ups on Monday.
 
Hi it sounds like dirty elec. Some cheap ups might not solve your problem but make it even louder just remember to get the correct ups for the amount of watts been pulled by equipment.
 
I'll try a 1kva ups and see if that helps.
Replaced the plug adapter with a surge protector, ones with the big red plug on the end to see if that help's - nope no luck as of yet.
 
I noticed my speakers where humming badly once again, it wasn't too bad over the last couple of years but this weekend came back much worse.

Is there nothing one can purchase to shield an amp and or speaker wire from electrical wiring which I think must be the issue?
 
I purchased a Samsung e6200 smart TV on Saturday so think "might" be a culprit.
