LOL

I just need to open this can.

Ok will the idiots that play hunters pls own up :D

I want to know something......

How difficult can it be to shoot, run, shoot, run, shoot, run ?
I just don't get the fun in playing a hunter

Or is there more to it ?

Hehe, Your discription sounds about right :D

as a hunter you can get around with simply just doing that, thats why hunters is the most used bot char.

But to really play a hunter good is another story, hunters is very potent DPS end game, but even then it is quite simple rotation of autoshoot and steadyshot... In instances hunters are often the only crowd controll with their traps, or off tanking with their pets.

I am now raiding with my 70 hunter and the amount of dps she can put out in raids is just "lekker". Fully epiced pvp is also a breeze

I can see them doing major damage for sure.

The problem is us little melee guys in BG's

I only started to really own them once my rogue reached twink. Up till then they nailed me very bad. They are to powerfull for 1 vs 1 with this run shoot move, and then having a Tank of their own :D

I love close 1 on 1 action.

Then again, might just be me :D

LVL 29 hunters rule that pvp bracket, as they just twink so easy. In higher brackets they blend into the background.

i have a hunter, purely for farming, yes it's deathly boring but great cash :)

As a full gladiator warr with deep thunder, I have yet to meet a hunter (of any spec) that can defeat me a in a duel. Spelldmg pala's, Frost mages, Spriests and 400 resilience locks are a different story though :P

Hey now. i feel the same about warriors who cant keep aggro and mages who AOE traps/CC.

I dont have a hunter, from what I see it does take some skill to play a hunter effectively. Sure, you can just shoot and whatever, but that holds true of other classes as well. Just like you get noob warriors/mages etc.

Hehe ok so lets talk hunters...

I myself play a hunter, and I love the class. One thing is for sure, it definitely aint just pew pew.
Anyone that claims its just pew pew, fits the term Huntard.
Might be the easiest class to play, but certainly the hardest class to master. MM hunter in normal BG's, simply amazing. Pretty much every single game its almost impossible not to end up no 1 on killing blows + max damage dealt. Duels, my favourite class is warriors, they are THE most predictable class... you KNOW he will come charging for you, you KNOW he will try hamstring you... so lets put a nice phat trap out, righty into the trap he comes charging, back off, get some distance, slowing shot and nuke the bugger down. If he does make it somehow on top of you, if you are BM, pop your Beastial wrath and remove all hamstring / slowing effects off you and use the pet on him with beastial imitidation, get him stunned... get distance... use trap again...rinse and repeat. Arena with LOS issues is a different story. Arena is NOT good for hunters.

Shot rotation is incredibly important. To get that sweet cycle shot rotation is a damn art and skill no-one can teach you that.. you have to learn / master it for yourself. AOE is also damn hard to match up with locks + mages, only way to even make it close to their dps, is to throw an explosive trap down in the middle of the mobs and then use your volley on top of the mobs standing on the explosive traps.

Typical example of my job in a raid pretty much everytime I raid in SSC: MD pulling to maintank, main assist (meaning you need to identify what mobs go down first + mark them), using correct traps effectively, using tranq shot on p1ssed of murloks, send pet in, know when to pull him back, know when to heal him, know how to get him up mid battle without loosing to much dps time, get into the cycleshot rythym without breaking momentum, know when its safe to use your multishot without breaking CC'd mobs, use your DPS booster abilities at the right time without pulling to much aggro and make sure you FD in time, keep dots up, watch your timers, use MD again on bosses with aggro resetting abilities to ensure the tanks get aggro fast enough between phase changes. Damn the list is endless...

Anyway... I love my hunter. I NEVER get bored playing him. :)

PS. it is possible being number one DPS dealer as a hunter in end game instances... kill mages + locks +shadow priests off that no1 spot :p

Great discription of hunters there :D

And yes hunters can top the DPS charts, in fact I do that quite regularly, part from one Moonkin druid that seems to have too much crits :D
Hunters and itemisation is in my view the second best class, each stat point boost damage and most of the best enchants fits hunters perfectly (just too bad mongoose dont proc of ranged attacks :( )
(Warriors are imho the best class when it comes to itemisation and dps, with the best geared raids dps warriors seems to top damage meters more often, not to mention all those 2k-5k crits they seem to deal out)

Had a blast last night :D was Doing Kara first part up including the Curator, which is an AOE heaven and as hunter I never realy top the charts then. But for some reason I managed to out dmg one of our fire mages by about 3% over the evening :D third was a rogue with another 3% below the mage. Clearing that first part of Kara (Huntsman, Moroes, Mayden, Opera, Nightbane, and Curator) in just over 2 hours so dps aint to bad.

Man your server must have really ****ty warriors -.-

1. Charge in and use challenging shout, causes hunters pet to focus attacks on you for 6 secs (bye bye trap)

2. Stand in dead zone, take a few shots and use mocking blow on pet, causing it to attack you for 6 secs (bye bye trap)

3. Charge, trinket out of trap, disarm hunter and burn him down

4. Stand in deadzone, running around predictable trap zone and watch hunter run around in circles like an idiot while you do piercing howl and overpower him for 2k

5. For BM hunters, just save trinket for when they go red, remove all slowing effects and just run at him till he becomes normal again.

6. Charge pet, fear hunter with intimidating shout for lots of laughs

7. If its a known BM hunter, you can just kill his pet before he uses the CD and therefore remove his one way of maybe beating you.

These are just a few "tips" for beating hunters these days. Also, i recommend 300+ resilience and a nice fat 2hand wep.

For the Alliance.

@Volstruis & TheYak

I rolled Alliance when I started my first char back in January 2006. That warr is still my main to this day. My brother plays a human pala, Ector (Executus), and at one stage convinced me to reroll a horde char. I made an Orc lock and played till bout lev 20 and couldn't stand it anymore.

The hatred I have built up for the horde is now so deeply rooted that I doubt I will ever be able to successfully play the other faction. Despite the fact that horde has better racials and is overall easier to PVP on, i prefer the challenge of playing for the Alliance.

The amount of noobs I encounter is still something that bugs me, but it makes the times when you find a good player so much more rewarding. And nothing beats smashing the horde in a BG with a few good Ally buddies when they are so used to steamrolling over Alliance noobs.

I have no problem with people who play horde, if i decided to roll a horde character when i started playing i would have probably felt the same way. I just think that there is too much negativity in the Alliance camp, so instead of abandoning ship like so many have done I'm gonna stay and fight it out: For the Alliance.

Cloud, that reaction from theyak & volstruis is the standard horde player relpy. They mean it tongue-in-cheek no doubt, but they dont realise that its getting old and tedious.

Horde = PvP racials, Alliance = PvE racials, and thats about it.

Did I hear correctly that horde have been moaning and getting a form of fearward ? If so I assume alliance is getting a form of WotF ?

Back onto the topic of hunters ...

One thing that really bugs me is hunters mark and invis.

Last night in the BG's I noticed that HM stuck on me when I went invis. I know there was a debate on the official forums a while back but I cannot remember the reason Blizz gave for keeping it that way.

Can anyone remember what it was?
============
As to the Ally vs Horde thing, makes no diffs really, I just prefer being the 'baddies' for a change. When I rerolled on EU, I was looking for an SA Ally PvP guild and couldn't find one at the time. I found plenty SA Horde PvP guilds and eventually joined one. Having an absolute blast now!
