Hurry up and wait for Vista?

I think Microsuck should take their time - the last beta i downloaded (5308.60) really reaLLy REALLY sucked badly! looks all pretty - but OH what a dog!

Don't judge it by the beta's. Rather judge it when the RC1 and RC2 comes out. For those not in the know, RC means 'Release Candidate', so it'll be the versions closer to the propper release of Vista.

I can wait for MS latest cash cow and admin nightmare. As for those who think this is an opportunity to make money "upgrading" all your clients, I just think back to the early XP days and shudder. Yeah, I like XP now, but hey... it's some time down the road. Why not just take what works and streamline it, make it leaner and faster... but then I guess that doesn't sell software...

What's the rush to get Vista ? I am using WinXP for years now and there is nothing that I would like to be able to do on my PC that I can't already do :D

WinXP is the best operating system by far.

Yes, it uses more resources than a small African country, but that's okay - we can afford it.

Vista is a as big a jump from WinXP as Win95 was from Win3.1. The beta's are far from perfect and we shouldn't judge them on it.

I agree that when Vista first hits the torrents :) there are going to be many problems with it which will probably require a service pack or 2 to bring it to the qaulity of XP and I also agree that we will all need to buy new machines to make it go faster than a stoned snail - but I am excited because it is going to be very new and very different. Programmes are going to be different. Usability is going to be different. Things that we have grown up on (like menus) may not exist or be completely revamped.

Well I agree that Windows Xp in the M$ line of OS'es is the best.
I'm a linux user and for work its fine but for games it sucks, I always have to boot back into windows to play games.

Win XP the best? Constant blue screens, needing to reformat every 2 months because it cannot boot due to system files becoming corrupt, needing to activate after every format hence running out of activation attempts due to using the same product key too many time? Win XP has been an absolute nightmare for me. Sorry mates, can't agree there :)

If I had to choose one, it would be Win 2000. Running on my old celeron it was the most stable by far, not a single blue screen or crash.

: ) I havent had to reinstall my copy of XP since sometime in 2002. I've had a handful of blue screens which i sorted out without re-installing, infact, i havent seen a blue screen in a year or two!!!!. Havent had corrupt file problems - maybe because i treat my pc like a loved one :D

I hardly EVER shut down my pc, unless there's lightning or i need to make a some hardware or software changes, otherwise my pc is ALWAYS on!.

Win2000 is a dog IMO, Win98 was better. Honestly, what you discribe sounds more like WIN-ME to me - now that was one AWFUL peace of Microcr@p!

LONG LIVE XP

Nononononono, RC means ReCompile... :) or ReConsider... :p

For those who are moaning about re-activating licenses after a reformat and reinstall, here is a link to "Windows Product Activation Explained".

Makes some interesting reading.

LOL yeah Win ME sucked big time, but personally XP has been giving endless grief

Well XP is okay, I hate the fuking useless networking .. okay ALOT better than 98 but it still sucks. Its built in firewall seems to almost disable file sharing and network access for some PC's. I was having a LAN with a friends new PC and it just couldnt connect to anyone elses, turn off XP firewall and it works???

I find that RC's are just a beta that is chosen as having gone far enough to make a public release. It is usually no diferent to a beta or two before it was released, so a beta is a perfectly fine way to judge something. But it might be a bit early in beta land to judge quite yet guys.

Well I cant wait for Vista either.. wait.. oops im called ekhaatvensters arent i... crap. i mean down with windows..
