Although my choice is linux, I have used XP only on a required basis (when performing technical and software maintainance) for a good couple of years, although now infrequently, and only very rarely (probably once or twice) obtained viruses.
I'm not even following Vista's development releases and documentation cause I'm not interested at all. I know Windows and it's infinite loopholes well enought to not get viruses and spyware but I'll stick with ol' faithful.
Btw, if you read enough and know what you're doing any operating system from Windows to Unix can be 99% secure.
