Acceleration and deceleration can be smooth and gradual.
The centripetal forces also won't be a problem with large radius turns.
Someone with a mass of 100kg moving at 900 MPH (402 meters/second) would experience 1.64G's in a turn with a radius of 10km.

He says there is no need for rails... To pump large amounts of air out of a tube that long would be impractical if not impossible. Also it sounds like it is personal transport to some extent (leaves when you arrive) but mass transit since it is to replace a train. The speeds seem ambitious too. Would that speed not make it the fastest thing on land? At that speed it would actually create a sonic boom. Again not practical.
The fact that it is a "loop" makes me think that trains only run in one direction ie clockwise in a giant "ring." The best thing I can think of is a maglev type system that is suspended rather than traditional train on rail and I assume the tunnel will be there to create some sort of drag minimising/ air boosting effect. Perhaps an aerodynamic pod uses the tunnel to create a sort of "scram" jet.
Imagine the tube breaks from some freak accident like a plane crashing into it. Then you have people being launched into the air at 1500km/h![]()
You're right. No need for rails is MagLev technology. Pumping the air out of the the tube is what Evacuated Tube Transportation is all about. It's not impractical, you only do it once, there are airlocks at each terminal station. In a vacuum there cannot be sonic booms.
Read US Patent 6374746. It reads like Sci-Fi but the science is sound. It sounds sound.
There are many similar patents, so I hope Elon Musk found a way to do it cheaper.
It isn't a true vacuum. It is a low air pressure tube from my understanding. If they manage to get the air pressure to half an atmosphere there will still be a sonic boom. But in order to ensure the system maintains that air pressure they will have to build extremely strong tubes to withstand the force of the air pressure difference externally + the shockwaves that would be built up from going that fast.
