Hypotonia is a state of low muscle tone[1] (the amount of tension or resistance to movement in a muscle), often involving reduced muscle strength. Hypotonia is not a specific medical disorder, but a potential manifestation of many different diseases and disorders that affect motor nerve control by the brain or muscle strength.

My 1 month old daughter was born this way and to date a diagnosis as to the cause is still outstanding. A muscle specimen has been sent to red cross for testing and no results forthcoming after nearly 3 weeks now.

Does anyone else have experience with this. Im just a bit curious. Im trying my best to stay away from google as the hypotonia can be a symptom of numerous other conditions. While many of these conditions have been ruled out already, treatment cannot begin until we have a diagnosis.

don't be afraid to browse the internet when you have something like this. you will find support groups as well which is helpful when others are going through similar situations as you.

I'm reluctant to to use the internet before we have a proper diagnosis. Im not sure how to explain why. Once we know exactly what the issue is, it would be easier to identify exactly which support groups to approach.
