Hypotonia is a state of low muscle tone[1] (the amount of tension or resistance to movement in a muscle), often involving reduced muscle strength. Hypotonia is not a specific medical disorder, but a potential manifestation of many different diseases and disorders that affect motor nerve control by the brain or muscle strength.
My 1 month old daughter was born this way and to date a diagnosis as to the cause is still outstanding. A muscle specimen has been sent to red cross for testing and no results forthcoming after nearly 3 weeks now.
Does anyone else have experience with this. Im just a bit curious. Im trying my best to stay away from google as the hypotonia can be a symptom of numerous other conditions. While many of these conditions have been ruled out already, treatment cannot begin until we have a diagnosis.
