Hyundai "build quality"

picked up my i20 1.4 on saturday. got 1100 on it already. i'll probably have 50000km on it by this time next year, so i'll know how well the koreans do with fair mileage.

previous car was a vw velociti 1.4 and i must say the i20 won't win the drag race, especially not uphill, but the comfort wins it for me (aircon!! w00t!!).

i don't care it the interior panels look plastic and cheap, i care about being comfy on a 2 or 3 hour drive.

so far the only con is the ipod connectivity. if you have tons of tunes, makes a few playlists, bevause scrolling through any list is painfully slow.

Don't you guys (i20 owners) find, that the headrests are angled too far forward and the lumbar support is non-existent? I was never really that comfortable in my i20...

Used to drive an old Hyundai Accent 1997, My wife had a head on crash with a drunken driver with only about 20 000km on the clock. I thought that is it for the car and gonna have to get rid of it. It got fixed and I drove it around for another 6 years clocking up an extra 150 000 km's on the clock and never had one ounce of trouble.

Currently driving a Hyundai I30 and loving it, must say that not only build quality improvement from Hyundai but the looks of their cars are awebetter than a ssangyong...lol

See the new i30 just got a 5 star euroncap, the 7th consecutive 5 star rating for Hyundai.

One seriously nice looking car - I've just gone through their spec sheets in detail, and they seem to have all bases covered.

They deserve to do well with this one.

I am amazed.. Fazda is finally seeing the light :p

Not at all - I am simply not a blind fanboi when it comes to these cars - if I really like a car I will say so, and we were given spec sheets on these yesterday and I am seriously impressed with it.

It's nice to see that perceptions about Hyundai's and Kia's are slowly but surely changing.

The Koreans are owning the Japs in terms of vehicle design and build quality right now.

Maybe better in terms of styling but in terms of build quality I'd say they're on par.
The difference is the South Korean vehicles are about 20% to 40% cheaper and that is why they are selling.
