Hyundai i10 automatics don't seem to be available currently in SA... maybe they will get some in two weeks but my mom needs a cheap automatic NOW, so guess its Polo Vivo time.

Is the i20 auto out of her price range?

But yeah 1.2 with auto might be a bit of an under performer.

I've heard even the i20 1.4 Auto isn't very quick (can do 140km/h on the highway no problem but don't expect miracles).

It my 59 yo mom, she doesn't need to be quick and it just for city commute, her foot is in a cast and she will only be able to use a manual car in 5 months.

Anyway, R50 000 isn't to be sneezed at so the i20 is out. She can get a 1.4 Trendline Polo Vivo Tiptronic demo with 6500km and all the optional extras for less than the price of the base 1.4 Trendline without extras. We'' go check it out saterday...

Ah wish her well.

True, but considering the amount of time between car purchases it may be worth considering

Are there any KIAs available in auto?

The Picanto is but stock might be a problem

My wife has the Atos in automatic (its 5yrs old this month) and awesome car. Well worth looking & waiting for a Hyundai. I also doubt the "under-performance" statement when I consider how nippy my wifes car is in city and open roads. Then again I've only once driven her car over 120km and that was in the Karoo and we where doing 140km/h without issue.

Are you talking from first hand experience or is this assumption based on third-hand stories and assumptions?

I need to buy a new car and won't settle for anything except automatic and looking at the i20 - not had time to test drive one yet so I'm just trying to get first hand experiences.

Ugly as hell Picantos...

Hyundai is 2 weeks or possibly more, they can't tell her. So they loose out...

Have you tried other dealerships?

And I know you already said but seriously go look at the picanto.

The 1.2 auto i10 is quite nippy. Not bad for what it is. Okay on the highway too. My girlfriend had the 1.1 auto and upgraded to the facelift 1.2 auto at launch. The Picanto is basically the same car.
