The South African ix35 range starts with a 122kW 2.0-litre petrol 4x2 producing 197Nm of torque and mated to a choice of either an all-new six speed auto or five speed manual transmission.

The family 130kW 2.4-litre petrol Thetea-II engine will also be available with the new six speed auto 4x4 drivetrain. In the ix35, the 2.4 produces 227Nm of torque and emits 219 g/km of CO2.

The pick of the range however is an all-new 135kW 2.0-litre turbo diesel, producing 392Nm of torque and CO2 emissions of 174g/km. This oil burner will be available with a six speed manual in 4x2 guise (returning a claimed combined fuel consumption of 6.4 l/100km) and a six speed auto 4x4 (returning a claimed 7.5 l/100km).

want:love:

i was set on buying the Qashqai until i saw it and i love it.The Qashqai put me off because i see it at every turn :)

Drove past Hyundai in Paarl the other day, saw one in their showroom. Looks like a nice package, but I would not go off-roading with it in a hurry. Never the less, my experience with Hyundai has been very positive, so I think this would be a "nice to have" vehicle, but with a price range of R 240k to R370k, that's all it will be for now;)

these compact SUV's aint build for off roading. Gravel roads are about it for me. But it does score me a few extra golf days for next month or two ... till the novelty wears off

Not to say that thats not a lot of money, but car prices are crazy - and the ix35 is cheap for that price for what you get.
I am considering buying soon, but will have to look at boot space as the Tuscon was suprisingly small (i have to atleast fit a pram and golf clubs).

I agree with you on the price. As for the boot space...hmm not so sure about that. It look a bit less than the Tuscon, at least the vehicle is quite a bit smaller by the looks of things. It reminded me of a "big" hatchback rather than a SUV.

I have only seen pics, not the real thing. So not sure about space.
Regarding price: Just saw Golf VI 1.4 TSi for around 235k. And guessing it does not come with features and service and warranty plan as ix35. So i predict this model to be a winner.
