Every second day I am trying a new version of Linux. It seems I cannot make up my mind, everything from Ubuntu to Red Hat, now it is onto Sabayon (Gentoo)

I think I need help!

you need more coffee.

And I like Fedora, Mandriva and ubuntu. Each has its pros and cons. Interestingly the one with least install issues and "everything works out of the box" for me was Mandriva.

Don't worry about it dude. Everybody becomes a linux whore once they lose their liginity. If you weren't I'd be surprised. ;)

You cannot really have an opinion until you have stuck with a distro for a couple of months, a few weeks is too short to really get your teeth into it and see if you like the system.

I just recently ditched Gentoo (after using it for 8 years) for Arch and after only two weeks on Arch I'm extremely happy with the move I made, but I cannot yet have a solid opinion on the distro since I have only used it for a little while, ask me again in a months time and I'll tell you what I think of Arch.

One thing, after leaving Gentoo I have no idea what to do with all the free time I have on my hands...
:P

they're all the same, no idea why people change so often

all though its about time that they standardized the init scripts location

I heard Linux admins get laid as much as their systems crash.

ROFL

But on a more serious note. I recently switched my pc at work from Archlinux to opensuse, mostly because it integrates into AD logins we use at work out of the box, and make it easier for me to keep my AD password updated as well easier to log in to fileservers ect.

However after using it for a while, it really makes life easy using opensuse, so many things people got used to on windows is included in this distro I literally dont have to fix anything.

I still however love Arch and it has made its new home on to my HTPC at home ect.

What really amazed me on Arch is that their package management is solid. ATM with Gentoo the packages are all over the place, poorly maintained layman overlay repositories, conflicts between layman overlays and portage packages, it is a nightmare.

It seems that in Gentoo if you have to commit yourself to either layman overlays or portage, they really do not do well together.

Arch is solid so far, with you main (testing, core, community and extra) repos and AUR, and they integrate and interact beautifully, I'm very impressed.

After doing the distro hopping thing I found Arch and have been using it for almost two years now without wandering for greener pastures.

Started with Ubuntu then Kubuntu then Fedora..... still using them all on different machines and boot options (and they seem not to be jealous of each other) next maybe Gentoo..
