My problem: I have 4 clients on iburst in the Germiston/Primrose area. Since Tuesday night there has been major signal loss. The max signal any of my client get, are 3 lights. Now these 4 clients are in 4 different area's in Germiston and Primrose. Ibursts suggestion and solution? Something is wrong with the modems. Suddenly, all four modems have gone faulty.

I can't cope with this anymore, I've logged faults, they MIGHT send out a technician next week, but they can't confirm it. My clients have been down for four days, and it seems they will be over the weekend aswell.

I...just don't know what to do, I had to share this....I'm really speechless.

Non Existing Service

You're not alone, and with the long WE I guess it's gonna take a little bit longer to get it up and running again. I got 2 modems and the UTC is completely dead.
But it shouldn't have been a problem if the long prommised Victoria lake base station was up running.
iBurst claims it wants to deploy 2 base stations a week but it takes over a year to deploy 1.
So by the looks of it, things will be sorted out just before the start of the World Cup (in 2010).

You are definitely not alone...
I had a experience with the help-less-desk where my modem would not connect anymore. It had been running connected to a router for over a year ... and now all of a sudden helpdesk said it was the MTU.
Another time I phoned and asked if I was capped... Helpdesk said 'NO' and then I proceeded to ask why I cant surf the web anymore.... the MTU problem came up, then it was my router that was faulty .. blah blah blah .... in the end.... I WAS CAPPED and 3 people at Iburst didnt have the brains to tell me! I discovered this using the bandwidth monitor.

Dear Ankz,

Are you still experiencing problems connecting? Please let me know which basestation you are connecting to and I will look into it for you.

Regards,
Kevin

Dear RichardP,

Is your issue current or a previous issue? ie. can you connect?

Regards,
Kevin

Ongoing problems

Hi Kev,

Yes this problem is ongoing, very low signal strenght with the UTD and very low performance, the UTC can hardly connect (takes about 8 to 9 attempts to connect) thereafther no performance whatsoever.

The base station in question is the Primrose base station.

The problems started Thursday morning and the situation hasn't changed since.

Cheers

Hi Vulpes,

Please contact the Helpdesk at 0116766004 and speak to Tepo - I just spoke to him about your issue. He will log a ticket for either 2nd or 3rd level support to investigate and get back to you.

Regards,
Kevin

Hey Kevin,

Yes, still problems. Same as Vulpes said, since Tuesday (Primrose) no signal (3 lights max). I've logged 4 tickets already(4 different clients in Germ/Primrose).
So we all waiting for Iburst to come test the 4 modems, that ironicly went 'faulty' at the same time................

There is a KNOWN problem in Primrose. Technicians are working on it.
That's what I got from the helpdesk.
