I broke my internet

My friend came over with a portable hdd and because I had no free 2 prong slots, I yanked my internet power out to make space.

I've reconnected my power but now my internet won't sync. Internet light on the router just stays red the whole time. I've tried rebooting, resetting, re adding my PPPoE connection but none of this has worked. In the router info page I have no default gateway assigned so this seems to be the problem.

How do I fix this? Would phoning Telkom and asking them to reset my ports work?

have you checked the phone line at both ends? Maybe you pulled it out of the wall when you unplugged the router.

If it's staying red, it could only either be -

Router is borked, time for a new one
power cable is either borked or loose (mine is like that, has to be in the router just so)

It could be a Telkom issue, try phoning them and ask them to reset your ADSL port, tell them it sycning but not authenticating. I am having a no of clients with similar issues across Cape Town, in fact I had a client phone me this morning from Tokai area with a very similar issue, no, she did not yank her cable out to make place for an external

Haha thanks man I think I'll do just that. The router works perfectly, I can access it no problem, change all the settings and everything. The only thing that is astray is that it's not reporting a default gateway.

Just phoned Telkom. They confirmed their main internet server is down which is why my router isn't syncing. Appears the server went down around the time I yanked the power on my router.
