I have an external antenna and I think the i-Burst link is at 1.79 gHz.
I am now on Telkom ADSL via the existing telephone line.
To broaden the home wi-fi connections to the ADSL router, can I use the old iBurst external antenna?
Thanks in advance.

The SWR http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Standing_wave_ratio would not be too far off, so it would be usable (not ideal), provided that your WiFi router has sufficient output power...

As, far as I can recall from memory the SWR will be just over 2.4, which is still acceptable and considering that the WiFi radios on older type of modem radios are rather robust, you should not have any major issues. However, it would be best to test it and confirm if the output is acceptable or give Poynting a call and ask them what the SWR would be of that specific antenna at 2.4 GHz.

You might be required to change the coaxial adapter, (which could potentially be costly) - best to contact Miro; http://www.miro.co.za/contactus.aspx to do it for you (best not to take advice from sales staff, knowledge lacking - ask for a technical consultant)

i-BURST EXTERNAL ANTENNA - IDSL EXTERNAL ANTENNA

TNX TO YOU GUYS! who.is.michael, AND Prof.Merlin.
I will try the old non-resonant i-Burst ant. and if not successful (SWR causing too much loss/mismatch), I will get that omni that is designed for the correct freq.
The coaxial connector (old one was female already cut off / new one is male and ready for soldering) is ready to be put into place.
Will let you guys know..
Thanks.
