I can't (how do I) view messages!

I just got a blackberry for my dad. So he got two messages. It flashes at the top with the symbol saying he has two messages. When I go to the menu and enter the SMS and MMS app, it goes in where I can view all the older messages, but I can't see my view ones. Ok, what gives, is this thing broke or am I doing something wrong?

I mean, I can see the older messages that have been stored in his SIM .. It has todays date and stuff.. But any new message, it just says I have a new message, the thing up top flashes red, icon saying I've received an SMS yet it doesnt show up on the SMS & MMS thing..

Im no blackberry expert but are you sure it isn't an email or notification? instead of going into sms and mms go into normal messages (in the menu i think the default place is above the sms and mms icon)

No, I sent my dad an sms, it said recieved sms than it went to that icon at the top with the number two... This is frustrating..

Then i recommend stopping by the cellphone shop...

In the SMS application press T (for Top). If you don't see it, combine your inboxes, in messages - options - choose combine inboxes for SMS and e-mail (changing it from theme-controlled). And if you still see nothing then shut it down (hold down the red button), take out the battery and put it back in.
