Hi guys

I'm a Telkom Internet user and I was trying to connect to MWEB's ADSL trial service, which I signed up for a couple of days ago.

But obviously, because I'm an idiot, I connected to the router through http://10.0.0.2 and changed some setting with the wi-fi... I don't remember what. I think I remember seeing "TKIP" something. Then I clicked on the button below that, hoping it would do something useful...

It didn't.

And now my computer does no pick up the DLINK router, nor can I connect to 10.0.0.2 to change the setting.

Does anyone have an idea what I did and what I can do to fix it?

Kindly,

Kopman

sounds like you enabled wi-fi security that your wi-fi clients don't have installed. easiest way to resolve is to use the ethernet port on the router and connect a pc or laptop directly - you should be able to get to the set-up page again. Else reset the router to factory default and start again.

Thanks for this, Neoprod!

Just for my info... Will I need a separate cable to connect the Ethernet port? If so, I don't think I have it. And how do I reset factory settings?

Tiny hole at the beck of the router. Need a toothpick or a paper clip and hold it for 5 seconds until the device reboots itself.

you will need an ethernet \ lan cable...the one that looks like an over-sized telephone jack (it's called an RJ45 connector).

To reset your router, you usually have to hold the power button in for 10 seconds (or more) or there may be a rest switch like Moose said. Google your router model to confirm.

Awesome guys! That helped. At least it recognises the router now and I can enter 10.0.0.2. However, I still don't have internet. How do I undo what I did on the router page?

If you reset it you'll need to reconfigure all the WAN pppoe settings. Your isp should've provided these details including a user name and a password.

I.e. [email protected] and a password.

If you did the ethernet thing reverify these settings and make sure all the details alogn with what your isp supplied.
