i did the smart thing, i stopped debit orders of my insurance:D.

i was with dial direct...

i will give them a notice tomorrow that I'm no longer in need of their services:D

I'm in need of some new car insurance... driving a citigolf and a nissan 1400 bakkie. please share some contacts...

Santam

Avoid these "no middleman" type ones, they're more expensive..

Outsurance quoted me R1400 on a Golf 4 2.0... Santam quoted me R450....

Santam through a broker, costs like R600 a month for New Bantam + home insurance (content + the actual structure) + insured a few small items like a expensive camera etc. Don't insure you laptop though, they quoted me almost R200 to add it! Very happy with them and when you need to claim you can phone your broker and they handle all the insurance papers & crap for you

Just don't go with Auto & General, they quoted me double what everyone else was quoting and when I pointed it out they said take it or leave it. Outsurance gave me a 35% reduction on their initial offer & I went with that.

thanks guys... I'm liking this naming and shaming....

I was with Santam and they charged me a fortune then i changed to Mi way and they almost Halved my instalment and im a women under 25.

Santam - R1100.00 for a City Golf
Mi Way - R690.00 some where around there

get a quote and they are very friendly and helpful aswell

Strange... I'm with Dial Direct, and I am paying R900 on a brand new Ford Ranger Supercab 3L ... everyone else wants to charge me R1200 and higher... Im 27 and no claim ever (except for cracked front window)

Oh dear here we go again. I swear by Outsurance, but I am sure somebody will disagree!

Why not go to http://www.hippo.co.za and get them to come up with the so called cheapest?

Get a broker mate. There "Direct" companies RAPE you ;)

I agree - go the broker route. I was with budget and dial direct before that, the broker was cheaper than either and you've got an actual person to speak to. Will send a PM shortly.

outsurance

DONT! They the worst!!

Try Stannic brokers, so far so good. Used to pay R650 for my Citi and now R750 for my Polo... the cars are not on my name though.

After they give you a reasonable quote. Ill advise you to call them every month and tell them how you "improving" your cars security.

ie: My quote was R900 to drive the car out the showroom, then I told them the color and they dropped my rates, put a tracker in, they lowered it, told them it has ESP and ABS, they dropped it, said its parked behind 2 gates and in a garage. etc etc

Strange...I find them the best!! :D

Those of you with Santam etc;, does the car insurance you pay include business use?

I don't see why you have to indicate that you use the car for business as well. I just don't. If you happen to be in an accident, you were just driving somewhere. Nobody has to know that it was business related.

If I recall Outsurance wanted to charge me R1500+ a month for my car :/

I found with them that it all depends on the idiot who answers the phone. All you have to do is tell them that they must be joking and that x y or z was offered half of that, and suddenly they get off their fat backsides and start trying to make a deal!
